Update after this week's games. Red Star got an unlikely victory against Liverpool - cancelled out by Celtic's win - while Rangers conspired to throw it away in Russia. Need two wins to move to 19th which is still doable. Sweden and Norway drew against each other, while Astana won for Kazakhstan.

19 eq Serbia         6.000 22.250 +0.500 1 UCL
20 eq Scotland         6.000 21.375 +0.500 2 UEL
21 eq Belarus         3.500 20.375                  1 UEL
22 eq Sweden         3.375 20.150 +0.250 1 UEL
23 eq Norway         5.125 19.950 +0.250 2 UEL
24 up Kazakhstan         4.250 19.250 +0.500 1 UEL

I was going to say we should be focusing on the positions above, as 17th has all the teams entering at a round later, except for the 3rd place team, but its currently Czech Rep on 25.275 points and I cant see us gaining 4 points on them (plus Serbia and Cyprus) this year.

Definately needs to be the target for next year, then 15th which gets us 2 CL places, currently Switzerland on 26.3 so a gain of 5 points

The target should be two teams in a group stage, or one in the UCL group and the others getting to the later stage of UEL qualifying. It only takes a couple of seasons of those results to move up the table.

That's what the teams above us have done - last season both Serbian teams got to the UEL knockout stage, but in the previous three seasons their points were less than ours with only 1 or 0 teams in the UEL group stage.

Also, important for both clubs to get results for their own club coefficient. Celtic need another win to stay at the same number as last season (31), while a Rangers win would move them up 50 places in the club rankings.

If we had the same performance every year as this year we would be top 15, and too be fair its been a good year for clubs, but hardly stellar yet. If Hibs or Aberdeen had been able to get to the group stage also, and picked up a few more points that would have been excellent, and given us a real boost

Update after this week's games. Celtic's win and Rangers draw puts us just another draw behind Serbia in the race for 19th. Red Star lost and are up against PSG next match so hopefully shouldn't get a result. The two Cyprus teams won so they are now five wins clear of us in 18th, though neither can make it to the knockout rounds.

19 eq Serbia         6.000 22.250                  1 UCL
20 eq Scotland         6.750 22.125 +0.750 2 UEL

Scottish women getting two Champions League places next season after Glasgow City made the last 16 (and clearly no further) this year, pushing Scotland up to 11th in the rankings. There's nothing to pick between City and Hibs so this is good news indeed.

There isn't any link between the coefficient this thread is about and the womens equivalent (if that's what you're asking). It's particularly significant for Womens CL as only the top 12 nations get 2 slots.

Even so, the Womens CL is a knockout tournament and Hibs Ladies will require to win a 4-team qualifying group (held in a single country over the course of 1 week) to qualify for it.

What does being 19th (or hopefully higher) really mean?

This year it meant the CL qualifier for 19th moving up from Q1 to Q2 to fill the vacancy created by a reserved spot for Titleholder's not being used.

18th this year saw the CL qualifier move up from Q1 to Q2 and best EL qualifier move up from Q2 to Q3

Relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but something I suppose.
