Fair play to The Gers.

Only doing it for the good of others 😉

CONSIDERING the current circumstances and increased speculation surrounding the ongoing impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Scottish football, we felt it is incumbent that we provide clarity in relation to our position.

For the avoidance of doubt, Rangers firmly believe that the 2019/20 season is only complete when all 38 games have been played to a finish.

Nevertheless, we are conscious of the ongoing financial hardships faced by many clubs within the Scottish game. No business is immune from the impact of Coronavirus and we were proud of our players and senior staff’s voluntary decision to defer their wages to ensure job security for their colleagues at Ibrox. Furthermore, many clubs urgently require financial support to maintain cash flow and allow them to survive this current impasse so they can return to normal business when the current government lockdown is relaxed. It is important to recognise that these clubs across all the leagues are now in a financially precarious situation.

As a club, Rangers will immediately propose a member’s resolution which would release prize money to be distributed to all clubs throughout Scotland urgently. We believe that this is the priority in the present circumstances. It is vital to show respect for all clubs across the Scottish game, regardless of league position or financial standing. We must work together with a unity of purpose for the betterment of the Scottish game.

We are also acutely aware of other issues which are less pressing but, are forming key parts of the football narrative in Scotland. Nothing is more important than protecting the future of every club in Scotland as we are cognisant that this has a direct impact upon people’s livelihoods. It is abhorrent that certain clubs could be unfairly relegated if the current SPFL proposals were implemented. We must future proof the Scottish game.

Any restructure of the SPFL or other solutions to the current impasse must be afforded time to scrutinise in detail and consider all options. The consequences of forcing through change without due care and attention will have severe consequences for the Scottish game.

Scottish football must work together for the common good of every club, their staff and supporters. Any attempts to railroad changes to existing rules or run roughshod over corporate governance will be opposed in the strongest possible terms. We must allow decisions to be made in a rational, fair and balanced manner.

In the meantime, we expect clubs to support our member’s resolution which will provide financial support to those who need it most.

How long do Rangers want to wait until we can complete the season. Would they be happy if we waited so long to finish it that Scotland would have no representatives in the next Europa League?

They don't want to finish it but want the prize money and the change to qualify for the CL.

f they don't get that, they won't last very long.

They want to have their cake and eat it too. If they really want prize money awarded now for the good of Scottish football than they'd be happy for it to be split equally.

We all know this won't be the case.

We want the financial reward for finishing second but do not award the title for those that would finish first..
Deferred wages for the players.
Seems like that massive £10m hole mentioned in the accounts is causing some issues down in Govan.
Must source some jelly and ice cream...

Right have I sevcod enough?

Tell Sevco to get tae France

For the avoidance of doubt...who fuckin cares.

It would be enough for me to vote thru these proposals + they could not afford any legal challenge anyway.

UEFA agree with Rangers here that the league season should be given every possible chance to finish.

In amongst all the gloom oor Alfie is helping folk need, brought a smile to my face.

RANGERS ace Alfredo Morelos delivered emergency food parcels in his Colombian hometown amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Ibrox striker, 23, donned a protective mask and gloves as he helped locals in his impoverished hometown of Cereté

Morelos made the trip back home to help his charity - The Alfredo Morelos Foundation - support families who are struggling during the COVID-19 outbreak

In a statement, his charity said: “Alfredo made deliveries house to house and expressed to them that they are not alone in this crisis

Yes, but what if it can’t.

Then award based on average points at the time of the last round of games, or average points after the first full round of home and away matches.  I'd also be in favour of enhanced parachute payments for relegated clubs and a cash bonus for clubs denied the opportunity of a play off - maybe funded by a different distribution of SPLF prize money.

Correct, I say split the prem money between all 4 divisions. I'm sure rangers would forgo their money all together, I'd be happy for Celtic to do the same. I mean if it's for the benefit of other smaller teams...who might be struggling....isn't it.?

I’m just guessing here, but in your scenarios, do Rangers end up champions. I can’t be bothered to work it out. I take it that you’ve given the caveat of your second option because neither Rangers nor St Johnstone have yet completed their first round of games?

I know there's a lot of bluster from Ibrox about wanting to finish the season, but surely it's all a pretence? Secretly, isn't a premature end to the league a gift to Rangers: the best outcome they can hope for in an otherwise pretty rank season? They were going to be pumped out of Europe, weren't even in the Scottish Cup, and had zero chance of winning the league – every Rangers fan had given that up months ago in an implosion of fury.

Now here's an opportunity to grab something precious:  to foment doubt about Celtic's otherwise inevitable ten-in-a-row. Plus they'll be able to issue statements about the unfairness of it all, the bias of the governing bodies etc, the sort of thing that triggers the masses, hides mismanagement and sells season tickets.

My views being endorsed by Romeo,  the world definitely has changed.

It's not just about Rangers though, too many people seem to be falling into that sevtrap.

With 2 old firm games and a game in hand, anything could happen at the top end of the table. Down at the bottom end/top of the championship there's probably even more at stake as teams try to avoid relegation or gain promotion.  Similar with the other leagues, there's still a lot to play for and simply making decisions based on current standings can't be justified.
