All the evidence we have to date shows that outdoor transmission is so unlikely that people basically don't have to account for it. Outdoor activities are effectively safe. Most of the whining about this on this forum and Twitter comes from the fact that both sites overwhelmingly skew in favour of the middle class, and most of them simply cannot stand the thought of the "underclass" getting to enjoy themselves and have a good time while they aren't. It is about forgoing things that, in isolation may have little risk attached for the greater good. If there’s a 5% chance that doing something will lead to you catching COVID then you may think that’s a chance worth taking. But if the entire nation of approximately 6million people did it the numbers would soon add up. Of all the birthday parties, funerals, weddings etc that have been cancelled or postponed a high percentage would have passed without incident. But there would have been some that didn’t, and they would have had the potential to set the nation back considerably. And what makes the average person on the street sufficiently qualified in either infectious diseases or risk assessment to decide if a risk is worth taking? The government decide that.
