You can't call yourself a supporter unless you do something to actively support a club. That is usually financial.

Take Hearts for example. Their support rallied round and saved their club when in Admin. Hibs fans did the same when in receivership in the 90s.

Rangers fans let their club be liquidated.

I'm forever pointing out the actual definitions of what each term means...

Supporter: As you say, financially supports the club, aka goes to the games, match day/season tickets, merchandise, sponsor a player, club lotto, match day programmes etc....

Fan: Short for fanatical, see above but also has their entire house plastered in club memorabilia, also never seen dressed without some form of 'clubwear' emblazoned on them, likely a pretty poor and tacky tattoo of the club crest on forearm or calf, generally a bit sad and dim.  However the term fans is generally taken to mean the collective of attending supporters.

Follower: Every other c**t that says they are either of the above, but everyone else knows fine well they never go to matches, don't contribute to the club  whatsoever, and only ever watch said team in the pub whilst giving it big licks whenever they score/win (Insert here, the majority of Old Firm fans and or folk that say they support an English Premiership team)

What happens if/when newco go into administration. Is it a simple 15 point deduction or are there any other punishments? My understanding is that it's only 15 points as it's administration outwith 5 years since last administration. Is this right?

They have never been in Administration before so it would only be the 15 point deduction.

Another aspect is the reaction of other fans to these fundraisers.

When I stood with my bucket outside Firhill the response from away supporters was tremendous.       St Mirren and Hearts supporters in particular were generous but I can't think of a support that didn't contribute.

Don't think many would contribute to save an OF team

Quite. When we were on skid row in 1998 Thistle kindly moved a game forward so we could get some cash in the bank, and their fans were also very generous that night.

Why doesn't it?

Not enough details I'm afraid, it doesn't really explain what they did to save their club.
