Given they could have signed at least a decent replacement for Pogba and a couple of players to try and rebuild their aging defence instead, spunking it all on a 28 year old striker is beyond stupid. Why aren't Juventus in a position to throw money around?
CM.
Chiellini and Bonucci will be world class defenders for a few years yet (they have Rugani and Benatia too) and they already have a number of decent central midfielders (Pogba was even often shunted out wide to accommodate others last season). With Morata away Higuain is a good replacement and if opportunities are presented will likely get more goals than Morata did.

It's not 100% confirmed that Pogba is leaving yet, but I would argue they don't need a replacement for him. They've just added Pjanic anyway, who scored more goals last season and got the same assists, to a midfield already containing Khedira, Marchisio, Hernanes, Pereyra and Sturaro. Barzagli's 35, Chiellini 31, Bonucci 29, Benatia 29 and Rugani 21. Barzagli's the only one I think they'd need to replace in the next few years, he still looks solid as they come, and I'd argue that him, Chiellini and Bonucci are the still best defensive partnership in the world. There's rumours that Rugani is leaving, maybe just on loan somewhere, but if they can keep him they shouldn't have to worry about their defence for a few years yet. Mr. Brightside
I'd imagine that Juve would try and hold on to Pogba for one more year and push for the CL this year. They really need offload Zaza though, waste of space.

Deeboy
Stones will look excellent in a team that actually attempts to play football, IMO.

Honest_Man#1
Looks like Brad Guzan is coming to Boro to be either 2nd/3rd choice depending on if Dimi leaves. Dimi is pretty dreadful IMO, but Guzan is probably just as bad. Praying that Valdes doesn't get injured.

I know he is a winger/striker but he's nowhere near good enough for a big top flight.
