Yeah the 1928 reference is a nonsense now. As you say, unequivocally breaking the link to the social club is one step too far in retaining the (slightly complex) history

I am sure there was a recent precedent in Scottish football for 'buying the history', I just can't quite remember the context....

This is all so sad amd youre right about the 1928 thing . Still trying to work out how we had an absolute party on that bus to and from Annan then a few weeks later the band was fragmented and its all gone tits up.

I've never known anything like it

Don’t know how they can still claim the 1928 on their pish looking badge after distancing themselves from the social club what was the link in the continuation.

They wouldn’t be the first Scottish club to claim an implausible foundation date.

There seems to be no end to odd developments in relation to Meadowbank.  There used to be 3 East Coast buses which called at the stops nearest to the stadium - the 104, 113 and 124.  It appears that the 104 has joined the choir invisible, and the 113 and 124 now only stop at Meadowbank House and Abbeyhill.

Not a big deal in the great scheme of things, but it does seem a bit odd that just at the point that footfall will increase at certain stops the powers that be reduce the number of buses that stop there 🤔  Maybe the thinking is that we are a nation of fatties and it's a good thing that those coming in from parts of East Lothian to use the facilities should walk a bit further too.

Any Arbroath fans looking in and travelling by train looking in should note that their best bet is to catch a 26 or 44 opposite Waverley Steps if they want to catch a bus which stops at the magnificent new stadium.

Kieran MacDonald signs. Should do pretty well in this league.

He was the best left back in this division in 2019/20, if he gets close that form again he should be an excellent signing. It sounds like he was in a weird situation with Hamilton where he was technically full-time but still working elsewhere, so hopefully just going back to a normal part-time approach sees him back to his best.

Thanks for doing that bus research. I suspect from comments in this forum there will be plenty of ECFC supporters who will be elsewhere on a Saturday afternoon, for certainly the first part of the season.

The website is still under construction and there has been no written formal statement from the Board about the change of name and the new club badge.  The early bird offer of a free home shirt for the first 50 people to buy a season ticket is still open. So that tells you all you need to know about the fans appetite for handing over their cash to the current regime. Plenty of games this season will see away fans outnumber the home ones.

Thanks for the heads up on that, despite the sh*tshow with the name change it seems that the Board and management team are trying to make improvements on the pitch at least. Hopefully there will be a goalkeeper signing announced soon....

Liam Fontaine finally confirmed.

Good signing that is.

In fact that's two very decent signings this week for City.

Hopefully we'll NOT be the whipping boys of this league as everyone seems to expect!

The 104 is now the "x6".

And the website has finally moved out of its 'under construction' phase

https://fcedinburgh.com/

It's like a new signing, Clive.

However...website admin hasn't put a re-direct on from the proper site yet

https://www.edinburghcityfc.com/

The website is a bit amateurish to put it mildly.  When you click on images entitled 'Our HIstory' and 'Our Community' there is no content.

The 'How to get there*' section is a bit of a minter.  It shows a map which shows "Meadowbank Stadium railway station", which was only a thing in 1986.  The information in relation to buses is crap too.

*surely 'How to  get here"?

Liam Fontaine is definitely a good signing for you guys. The Premiership is probably a step too far at his age now but I think he'll still perform at a more than acceptable level in League One. Also imo he's one of the sharpest up-and-coming minds in the game, you'd do well to give him a shot at coaching.
