Annan Athletic boss Jim Chapman has got what he wanted from the League Cup draw.

The League Two boss had hoped for a trip to Ibrox and to host Motherwell in the League cup and he’s got exactly that.

Rangers will host the Galabankies in their first home game on Tuesday July 19 before Motherwell make their trip down to play Annan on the Saturday.

Chapman’s first win as Annan boss came at Ibrox with a 2-1 victory over Ally McCoist’s side and he’ll be hoping to repeat the feat when they play.

Jim said: “It’s great to have a trip to Ibrox which is the biggest fanbase at this stage of the competition.

“It will be Rangers’ first game at home of the season so it should be a good crowd.

“ There’s the obvious financial benefit to the game but it will be a great experience for the players as well and every match will be a tough challenge.

“ First of all I think the new format is good for the game .

“It replaces a lot of the pre-season activities you’d do and one drawback is you don’t have long to prepare for the new season but on the whole I think it’s good for the game.â€

It will be a completely new look squad for Annan next season after five first team players left at the end of the campaign. Peter Weatherson and Ryan McStay left to manage junior side Shettleston Juniors , Smart Osadolor joined Stranraer, Matty Flynn joined Clyde as did Martin McNiff.

But five players have signed up for the new campaign. Keeper Blair Currie, Steven Black, Steven Swinglehurst, Peter Watson and Liam Park have all signed on.

But the gaffer insists he’s not worried about getting a team assembled for next season.

He said: “Me and (assistant manager) John Joyce won’t be panicking because there’s a wealth of players out there but we need to recruit the right players. And it will take a bit of time for them to gel together.â€

Right lads, sorry for coming on here, but summer is lean on news and looking for information from gossip.

So, Josh Todd. How old and what type of player is the he?

Josh Todd is 21 I think and is a very good attacking midfielder who is very comfortable playing the number 10 role and scored 18 goals for us this past season. He's a really good engine on him and plenty of skill the only downside for me is he needs to get to the byline more often.

Cheers, much appreciated! Sounds a good prospect.

Cracking player and still young. Could definitely make the step with with better players round about him

Josh Todd to Queens

Jim Atkinson to Annan on loan our 21 year old goalkeeper we pay Atkinson wages for the season

Good young goalkeeper just needs games to get more experience.

Lives in Carlisle so local for Annan.

This is the rumour I am hearing but Dunfermline still after him as well think he is training with them now

Any Annan fans heard anything ?

Copied from the Annan Athletic website.

Following a quite close season at Galabank the club are delighted to announce that the following players have re – signed for the forthcoming season.

Club captain and defender Steven Black, Goalkeeper Blair Currie, defenders Peter Watson, Steven Swinglehurst and Scott Norman, Midfielder Liam Park and Striker Rabin Omar have all agreed one year deals.

The club will announce more signings in the forthcoming days.

I also heard that Annan have signed Gavin Mcmillan, striker from the shire along with a shire defender,a left back i think.also we could see the return of scott davidson..
