Kyle
I think Davidson said 5-2-3 rather than 5-3-2 as Ludo mentioned on the previous page. Will be interesting to see how that works, but I do think we have the right players for that. It’ll be interesting to see who we bring in with Davidson. Sounded to me like he wanted to bring in experience to ‘balance’ the squad and that he has the funds to bring in 2 or 3. Thought Davidson came across well in his interview as well.

RandomGuy.
FWIW 5-2-3 was used in Italy a fair bit, and is used with a lone striker. Most clubs seem to have moved to 2 strikers, with some playing a sort of triangle behind the two strikers, like... That's pretty much Lazio set up these days. Aye, theres a few ways you could actually set up a 5-2-3. Either way, adds a bit of intrigue into our games once we get going. Could even have a sort of offset front 3, with May drifting left, MOH drifting right, and Hendry central. May stays up when teams are attacking our right, with MOH dropping and a the CMs shuffling over. Same in reverse.
Ludo*1
You'd best be checking the way Millwall used it because he said that's where he developed it as 'his' system.

You mean I'll have to spend all night googling Millwall and using different websites to both figure what games they used their 5-2-3, and watching clips of said games? RandomGuy.
FWIW, Millwall seem to simply take out one winger for a centre back when changing from 4-4-2, to (what they class) as 3-4-3. Jed Wallace seems to start on either wing in a 4-4-2, and goes onto the right wing in a 3-4-3. One of the strikers goes left and one stays central. Equivalent would be us starting MOH right, Spoony left, May/Hendry up front, then taking Spoony out for one of the CBs and pushing May left. I’d tend to say that’s 3-4-3,which can suit our squad as both full backs are better going forward, could be a more exciting style this season Edited June 20, 2020 by glenrothes 1884 saint Hadn’t finished
Widge
We all know we’ll start the season with a 3 at the back, then Liam Gordon will get another injury for 8 weeks and instead of playing Duffy, we go to a back 4.

I really hope he makes it with us now, for all the joking about we all do about him, it must've been hard as f**k for him mentally last season. Against Celtic. Didn't go particularly well.

Yeah but that defence had Vihmann, so its a stretch claiming there were 2 CBs beside Duffy.
Radford
Hearing Davidson actually favours a 2-3-3-2 formation. Expect it'll be these players... Clark Rooney - Kerr - McCart - Tanser O'Halloran - McCann - Davidson - Wotherspoon May - Hendry Not sure how the opposition will deal with our 2-3-3-2.
RandomGuy.
Never forget the day billy big baws Sunderland, recently relegated from the EPL, came to McDiarmid and got absolutely fucking rinsed. Steven MacLean seeing a line of players earning over £50k a week, and who'd played at Old Trafford the season before, and deciding to just skelp the ball at their collective pusses... ... a real high point of the day for me.
PauloPerth
Was that the summer Romain Habrán was on trial with us? The Spoony rollover is up there with the Cruyff turn and Maradona spin in iconic moves to beat a player! I'm not sure I've ever seen an opponent not buy it, he executes it so well.

PauloPerth
It was his free kicks I most remember him for Searched for the two against Dundee in the 7-2 game but couldn't find them.

Radford
Not sure he scored many more? One at home to Stirling Albion maybe? Sekerlioglu scored a couple of beauties that season too, away to Stirling and when we won 4-0 (of course) at Firhill. For a while, there was a video on YouTube of highlights from. 1996/97 but it's not there any more.

Surely the rest of that game does somewhere too!
