All well and good but anyone know why he (apparently) wasn't at training yesterday?

I imagine we'll get the rumours when he's not named in the squad and we've only get 6 named subs.

In CD's Courier interview yesterday I noticed he said something like 'I'll see the opposition team sheet and adjust accordingly' (not an exact quote).

Made me wonder if he's making adjustments in terms of players very close to game time, which would explain why our lineup announcements are consistently very late. Would a fairly mental thing to do but it struck me as an odd comment to make.

Did I miss anyone explaining why we'd changed match commentators again?

Prior to tonight we'd managed to go through more commentators than we'd scored goals at home.

Thought Midge was a decent co-commentator but did have a habit of rambling on when there were things happening in the game that needed attention. Made it seem like he wasn't really bothered.

Maybe depends on availability?

Same folk maybe can't do Friday nights but could do Saturdays, etc.

Is it not a different co-comms every game? This is the 2nd commentator.

Correct and before tonight we'd only scored 1 home goal.

This guy commentated on the United game as well.

Also, who is he?

Sacked my attempts at working a rating system, realised it was likely a lot of shite, as it seems impossible to make a fair one.

Instead working on a "comparison" tool.

Using position relevant stats, narrowing it down by value (transfermarkt, don't agree with it completely, but otherwise its a mess), age, and nationality (Melamed aside, we sign Brits almost exclusively).

Theres yer attempt at finding a potential replacement for McNamara. Forgot to narrow it down to players with only 1 year left on their deals, so unsure whos available etc, but pretty chuffed I can do this now. No idea about most, but I know Devlin is a similarly aggressive, more attacking than defensive, full back, so thats promising he scored so close.

Next step I guess would be filtering out those playing at a clearly low level (looking at you, Irish and Welsh leagues), and those in too high a league (QPR).

Just now I'd be saying, as obvious as it sounds, that Nicky Devlin is the best, realistic, direct replacement for McNamara in our system. 27yo and free next Summer.

Caveat on this is obviously it depends on you wanting a similar player.

21 different "attributes" put in the system, theres your Murray Davidson replacements. All 27 or under, all free next Summer, all either at clubs we should be able to sign players from/not playing enough at bigger clubs.

Smyth at Dungannon would've been filtered out, but hes an 18yo lanky f**k who runs about like Davidson and wins shedloads of headers, and I play FM.

FWIW Paul Lewis at Tranmere seems the best fit. 6ft1, 25yo, contract ends this Summer. Playing in EFL League Two.
