In this instance the players. The manager has put out the same team as Wright did, in the same system. He cannot physically make them use their heads and make the correct decisions on the pitch as much as he'd want to. It's up to the players to step up, take the clear cut chances they took last season and play and use their brains to the best of their ability, that's not happened yet this season.

When players are missing sitters from 6 yards and attacking players are ignoring gaping areas in the box?

Aye, sack the manager.

If we get similar issues in a 4 game stretch under a new manager then we just punt him too. Dont see what could go wrong tbh.

It doesn't stop anywhere after just eight games.

For me this is the salient point. Things may not be exactly as we wish but I’m not sure that we should be executing anyone at this stage.

Follows the arrow then he's fine. Either a shot from close range or even a cross where anybody could knock it in, even a defender.

Absolutely no idea why he goes left towards the crowd.

Davidson to blame for playing O'Halloran, IMO.

This was just after kane prancing from his left to right across the box with ample opportunity for a shot, before being tackled

Tbf you know what you're getting with Kane.

On the subject of Kane. I can see him being allowed to go in Jan to free some wages for another signing?

So on that note, what 34 year old free agent who's not played for 10 months will be bring in? 😬😂

He's 38 and already here!

Spoiler

Craig Mackail-Smith IMO.

Looks like what we've got is what we've got going by the manager's comments this morning. Hopefully we don't get a bad run with injuries in key areas as there isn't going to the depth of previous years.

GK: Clark, Parish, Sinclair.
RB: Duffy, McNamara, Rooney.
LB: Tanser, Booth.
CB: McCart, Kerr, Gordon, Duffy, (Rooney), (Booth).
CM: Davidson, Wotherspoon, Bryson, McCann, Craig.
AM/W: Conway, Wotherspoon, O'Halloran.
FW: Kane, O'Halloran, May, Olaofe, Robertson, Hendry.

Not much scope to change shape with the lack of wide options, a big contrast from the last few seasons with Kennedy, Wright and Swanson arguably making it our strongest area.

A big drop off at centre back if any of the three starters are injured as well but I guess if they can find a different club for Duffy and a loan can be arranged for Robertson (and maybe Olaofe heading back south) there might be scope to bring in someone that could have more impact on the first team.

Might be being hopelessly optimistic here but is there a chance Davidson has learned from the master here and is saying very negative things about incoming transfers while in the background they are fully anticipating bringing in a player or two? Appreciate the current situation is unique but how many fans would there have been actually paying into games come October? It’d only be season ticket holders that have already paid surely?

We make a big slice of our revenue outside the gate (hospitality etc). We'll have been very badly affected. I doubt the money is there and this week's news makes it likely it won't be available for a long time yet.

Can see a logic to bringing up both the millwall lads. At a time when they're not allowed to go out and socialise, moving to a new town on your own as a 21 year old would be pretty hard going. If Danny continues with his early season form, I'm more than happy with a 1 in 2 success rates for the millwall loanees.  Not giving up on Tanto yet, still early days.

In terms of the squad, we'd be well suited to a 4-4-2 with the players we've got if the manager wanted to make a change.

                                    Clark (parish)

McNamara (Rooney) Kerr McCart (Gordon) Tanser (Booth)

MOH (Conway) Davidson (Bryson) McCann ( Craig) Wotherspoon

                             May Hendry (Kane)

Harsh on whichever centre back you drop as that's probably our strongest area.  Not unhappy with the 3-5-2, but the option is there to mix it up, or even during matches. Would at least allow O'Halloran to play his more natural position.

He's already taken Liam Gordon off a few times to go to a flat back 4, so it's not as if it's an option he won't consider. I think that Gordon id the one to fall out in that instance though, as despite being the more aggressive centre back his distribution is absolutely woeful at times.

This is why the Bryson deal frustrated me so much.

Understand getting his quality/experience for as cheap as people are saying he is would be hard to match, but id had have been happier with a slightly poorer option you could almost guarantee was fit most weeks.

People keep saying “well we’ve been in this position before and still done ok” but that was with the greatest manager in our history in charge, a great motivator and man manager.
