Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Anniversary of an often overlooked great night for Saints. Doesn't get much worse than 5-1. Unless you lose 7-2 just four months later. .
An outing for the teal and magenta and we were in the Provost Road end.
Was a great night. We really were quite phenomenal that season, generally.

Apparently Morton and Cove are both after Wallace Duffy

Type of move he needs tbh, would surely mean we're close to a CB signing if they sanction it though.

Guessing from the above comments that Duffy is more of a centre back than a right back?

Not good enough on the ball to play regularly at full back and just looks like a centre half playing at full back type scenario.

He struggled for Saints in central defence particularly against forwards with a lot of movement but if he's going to make a full time career from football for years to come it'll be in central defence.

So if we get him, he will def be played at RB then.

Fully expect him to go to Cove though.

Would he be a decent signing for the Championship?

He played well in one of his appearances last season, coupled with the championship being absolute dug meat, I'd say he'd be fine.

That was against Uche.

Hearts just resorted to lumping it up the park to Uche that day and he did deal with that quite well.

Interesting to read McCann played further forward for N.Ireland. Still think he's best in the middle with a sitting midfielder beside him but it might be a way of getting the best of him if Davidson sticks with this shape. Gives flexibility if nothing else.

Also of note is the comment from Davidson that he wasn't sure if he'd someone else in by Saturday. Implies that he is close to signing someone.

Interesting to see stats suggesting that Conway has been an important part so far this season. Against the grain of the thinking of some - myself included up until the st.mirren game.

Worth mentioning that Conway there is being compared to wingers, despite playing central for 45 mins against Kilmarnock, and then almost the full game against St Mirren.

Its maybe not surprising he's more involved in the build up game than your average wide man when you take that into account. If you stripped it down to stats when wide, and then stats when central, and compared his figures while in those roles to his peers in those roles, it would be less impressive.

Thats not me trying to criticise Conway btw, I think its mental folk have written him off, but just trying to add a balance to things.
