Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Scott Burns reckons the fee for Kennedy is £70k. Inverness got more for a centre back who was agitating for a move and had a similar amount of time left on his contract. Pathetic

It certainly won't be much more than that. Somewhere between 60-100k so 70k sounds reasonable.

Its unreal. We've, literally, given our best chance of avoiding relegation away for £70k.

Weeks of hard negotiations and wasted time.

For £70k.

Seventy thousand pounds.

We can do you a special one time end of window offer on a striker we have surplus to requirements for the hunbelievable knockdown price of £70,001.00

Regards,

AFC

Not happy at all here either but is it possible we’ve been forced into a corner?

Aberdeen want him now but aren’t prepared to pay the going rate, tell Kennedy to keep demanding to go now/ take the huff, or he’s desperate to go and does it himself.

Saints realise his hearts not in it, he’s just going to wind things down and not giving a f**k, it’s the best we can get and doing it now gives a week to possibly get new players in.

Im not saying this is definitely the case, but wouldn’t be the first time in football.

Either way, we really could be doing with getting a result tomorrow to stop this negative spiral.

Thinking on it...We probably paid that to release a similar striker from his contract with you in the summer.....

The plus from this, is that you’re also getting Curtis Main as a freebie.

Would keeping Kennedy help St Johnstone finish one place higher in the league as things stand? If so (and I suspect it would be), it's almost a false economy selling him given the league prize money rises/falls in £62,500 increments.

Hes got 3 goals and 4 assists in the league, and we've only scored 16 goals in total.

His goals/assists can be classed as 7pts from working it out.

I dont think anyone else has more than 1 assist this season?

Speculating completely here but do you think the club waited to do a deal until today as they hoped if we won on Wednesday there still was a chance we could make the top 6, therefore financially mitigating the need for the money we would get for the sale of Matty?

I know staying up should be the priority and losing your better players doesn't help but..

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/st-johnstone/1018572/signing-a-centre-back-is-st-johnstones-january-priority/

He should now have the opportunity to do exactly that.

I'm still not surprised players had to leave before any could come in though. Were paying the price of McMillan ending up being a failure on such a high salary and giving Ando a new deal again on an apparent high salary.

We haven't spent the exciting wage budget wisely enough. To many attacking wide players to fit into one team, with cheap options ending up having to be regulars in the team in the back line. Duffy etc.

I personally think it’s Kennedy that’s fucked Saints in the arse

Always keen to push into the box etc etc

But yeah, probably an unhoy combination of player/agent/club and I guess when all 3 are pushing for the move there's not much point in keeping him if he doesn't want to play for us.

Hoping that there's a sell-on in there somewhere, he's a good player and should get a wee bit more exposure if Aberdeen get to Europe so we might end up getting a bit. Trying to take the emotion out of it, we got him on a free, he's contributed a lot to the club and it sounds like there's a little bit of cash in it for us.

Not by any means saying that this is at all a good thing and there's a reasonable chance that it will see us relegated but taking a few steps back I expect our hands are tied and it's the best of a bad situation.

As always, it's what happens next that matters.
