Think we will come back in with another bid but offering more money upfront.

Your attempts to sign Kerr, and now McCart, over the course of the Summer has been one of the most tinpot things going.

The asking price is well within reach but Hibs seem to be fucking about for no apparent reason other than thinking they're incredibly clever if they somehow avoid paying it.

What's the asking price?

Hopefully we move along then if you’re still playing hardball. Not worth more than 300k.

If we get £300k for him I'll be more than happy, considering hes out of contract next Summer and it sounds like hes already decided he'll be off regardless.

Can we replace him well with a week left? Massive job.

Was it the right decision holding onto him for the Euro games and running the risk of losing him late in the window? Probably.

Just one of those things really. If the fee helps extend a deal elsewhere, or bring in a replacement for him, then you can't be too upset.

Always difficult for clubs like Saints to replace a regular starter in the likes of Mccart. Even more difficult in his case as well as he's the left sided of the three.

Assumed he'd be the one away after the articles last week indicated his staying was dependent on last night's result.

Another loanee?

Hibs are playing a strange game here. Surely the longer it goes on there's more chance of a club down south making a panic signing?

Or St Johnstone panicking and accepting the lowball offer from Hibs because nobody is biting.

What other classifications of forward are there? Cause that's basically what we need.

Got the four above, plus...

Target Man - Aerially strong striker who is also weighted towards being a goal threat

Limited Target Man - Aerially strong striker who does nothing else

Advanced Forward - Player whos weighted towards attacking + possession actions rather than defensive

Creative Goal Threat - Highly creative striker who is also a major goal threat

Defensive - Massively weighted towards defensive actions

Possession - Massively weighted towards possession actions

Poacher - Massively weighted towards attacking actions

In general you probably want to avoid a limited target man or defensive player, or at least you don't actively seek them out. A creative goal threat is something thats hard to find at our level really, you're looking at a Liam Boyce type player that falls under that profile. Lewis Vaughan does too but long deal + horrendous injury history means thats unlikely. Rest are either fairly small sample size wingers, or players who've already moved this Summer. Think thats probably the dream role though?

Ideally we probably want a Target Man or Advanced Forward, I'd guess, but again, probably left it pretty late in the day to get anyone good enough permanently.

There's Muller, who just needs game time, or even Callum Booth can step in one and play left centre back as cover if we need someone left sided.  With time playing alongside Kerr and Gordon, our system will envelop and develop any new player.

Our system made McCart, Hibs's will destroy him.

We offered £250k and it’s still well short. As expected we can’t afford what St Johnstone want and we’ve moved on to a new target. f**k knows why we’ve waited this long, I can’t imagine the asking price was a fucking secret. Mathie masterclass.

Interested to see how this turns out, I do also wonder if other teams might be very nervous about buying defenders who have shone in this specific system, but they might be left exposed in a more conventional back-four. Plus there's also the Saints curse where nobody actually leaves and does well
