capt_oats
Having a look at the attendances when the "Old Firm" teams have played recently. It averages out at 6,789 for Rangers and 6,481 for Celtic. Realistically what sort of uptick in attendance would qualify the trial as a "success"? Or on a more basic level how many extra seats will Saints have to allocate to away fans? Radford
The Rangers Continous Credit Card Scheme means that their allocation (which will actually be in excess of 7,400) will be sold out, regardless of if any of them actually turn up. How does the Celtic away system work?

Away support always sells out in these games, the variance is in home support which is clearly dropping.
jamamafegan
What's your answer to combat the lack of fans? Tell us all what the club should be doing to raise crowds?Going to McDiarmid is a throughly unenjoyable experience. The club needs to make home games a more exciting experience but also do more away from McDiarmid to really make us stand out in Perth. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s been said numerous times that we have a bit of cash in the bank, so I suggest Saints put it towards the following things:Fan zones near McDiarmid - the fan zones for the Europa League games were great. Bring them back, sell alcohol and food, get people up to the ground before they decide to just stay in the pubs in Perth.Shove St. Johnstone Football Club in Perth people’s faces - put up billboards around the city telling people to go to games, put up posters in pubs, shops, cafes, everywhere. If I was a tourist visiting Perth I wouldn’t have the faintest idea the town had a team unless I happened to see a bus go past with Stevie mays pus on the back. Also as a side note, it’s always annoyed me how the saints shop in town is called Campus Sports. Why can’t it be rebranded as the official St. Johnstone FC shop that sells both merchandise and other sports gear just as it does now?Lower the prices for tickets - a country wide problem, I know. But it’s too expensive for the product on show. Twenty is Plenty.Improve the facilities in the stadium. Currently we have shitey wee TVs and cold, grey concourses. Brighten the place up a bit, the place needs a lick of paint and could do with some cool pictures on the walls of past teams, players, Muirton Park, stuff like that. Make it more interesting. Something needs to change. We aren’t making any progress by inviting the bigots to take over the stadium.

Old Pack
Saints are between a rock and a hard place with this decision - financially they really have no other option. They've clearly tried to attract fans locally but it just isn't working. Is there a reason why local fans won't support their local team? Perth like many places outside Glasgow is polluted with Old Firm vermin and c***s swanning around in Liverpool and Barcelona tops. Our support is dwindling at an alarming rate in our best ever decade.

PauloPerth
I’m a season ticket holder in the East Stand. I remember being shot down by a few Saints fans on here for suggesting this when we drew Celtic in the Cup last season, for cup ties at least. Like a couple of others on here, I attended the ST holders meeting at the start of the season and heard the figures. We have 1680 or so ST holders, up slightly on last season. Last years cup match at home to Celtic, we had under 1100 home fans in total. Thats ST and pay £10 on the day. You generally get pumped, you have to listen to the mutants singing their pish, the decisions go against you.. it’s just not appealing to many casual fans. We already give them 4700 or so tickets, now they’ll get 7000. It’d be different if we were going from giving them 1500 to 7000. Motherwell and kilmarnock fans having a pop as your clubs are now ‘standing up to the OF’ is hilarious ... your fucking stadiums were built with the OF supports as the main consideration! I can completely handle it if we see a couple of quality signings in January. As has been argued, we’ve tried loads to boost home support and there’s been no increase despite our best ever decade. There will still be plenty tickets available for home fans at OF matches, and if our support grows then we go back to the current allocation. Finally, I haven’t looked at facts here, but I’m pretty sure one of the teams with the best home records against OF clubs over the past 18 months is Livingston. Giving them 2000 extra tickets will make f**k all difference to our results against them. I’ve seen us draw a couple of times at Celtic park with less than 100 Saints fans there, and pump rangers at ibrox with a couple of hundred of us there. I do think we’ll see non-OF match season tickets next year. I also wonder if there will be many more of them there as I’m not sure all their seats have been filled at quite a few of the more recent matches, particularly Celtic. But they will buy the tickets as it keeps them up on credit for their more sought after away tickets. That would be perfect.. we get an extra £80k per game but f**k all extra of them to put up with. Would I rather it was 10000 Saints fans and just a couple of hundred OF supporters in a packed out McDiarmid Park for these games? Damn tootin’ I would; but it’s not going to happen, so just got to be realistic and make the best of it.

Did they send you for tartan paint and a left handed screwdriver, too? You must have been quite gullible. Dundee averaged about 7,000 in the 70's.
