Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Seen someone in the replies to the tweet suggesting £20 would have been a good compromise in price. I agree.

Does anyone know if they're going to go with some extra marketing for this one or will we just getting the usual scheduled "tickets on sale here...." Etc?

Perfect chance for the guys who work in the social media side of things to show their creativity etc! (If they're allowed to)

Theres really not as many United fans as they seem to think. Going off Twitter youd think theyll be bringing 10k through.

The bounce game king strikes again. 3-2 win with balon d’or contender Bair scoring.

Genuinely must be some form of context (tap ins v heavily shuffled defences?) we're missing with Bair in friendlies, as his goal record in them is genuinely unreal. Must be getting at least a goal a game, and yet cant get near it in competitive games.

For folk who arent on Twitter to see it.

Probably helps explain out struggles in front of goal all season, and why the football played has been described as boring/defensive.

Don't want to harp on about the shape again as it's more than that and more about the roles.

When you play 3 as conventional centre backs with two holding midfielders in front. Two wing backs supplying the width then a front two with one in behind, when you think about it there's no surprise there wasn't many bodies getting into the box.

The front two and attacking midfielder in behind are the only ones who are going to get into the box with any regularity as well as maybe a wing back at that back post occasionally.

Play him in a competitive match but tell him it is a bounce game.

Aye if you don’t have the players for it and your mindset is such, you’ve essentially got an 7-1-2. Even worse when that’s your mindset and you want to play with ‘wingers’.

Not having a CB getti g forward completely ended that shape as viable. Didnt hugely matter which of the 3 got forward, as you can alter your central midfield so one moves out while the central CB moves in if needed, but one of the 3 has to get forward.

Theyve rarely left our half in the last season and can't imagine they've touched the ball near the box at all. Could only be instruction too, to me, as Cleary was exactly that type before joining us yet didnt seem to get forward either.

When you add in Stevie May being one of the strikers, and he generally ends up floating about a wing, you wonder how much of that average score of ~2.2 comes from us having 1 player in the box.
