Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Parish seemed to be telling folk he’s retiring prior to the end of the season, if the banter page is anything to go by.

Podcast boys have said he’s confirmed that with them too.

Looked like he retired during the Hibs match.

Be interesting to know if there's negotiation with a few to leave early or go out on loan for a season. Vertainen the obvious one and you could probably add Gilmour, O'Hallaron and, maybe less likely, Crawford and even May into that. You'd think Championship sides might have in interest in most of those names. Otherwise leaves a position where the club is having to carry another bloated squad.

Which takes me to the main point, if the clubs sticking with Davidson they are going to have to back him seriously again this summer signing players that can strengthen without necessarily getting rid as many as they'd like. Assuming Clark, McCart and Hendry leave, that leaves a lot to sign. Minimum - Keeper, RWB, centre half cover, two CMs (ideally a younger Muzz and another mobile midfielder), two wingers (three if MoH goes) and at least one striker. That pushes the first team squad back towards 30 and you could still argue for strengthening other areas. It also assume we are sticking with 5-3-2 but also want the 5-2-3 to give a semblance of tactical flexibility. Given the players Davidson missed out on in January expect this is the case.

There's a lot of pressure on some of the new arrivals and youngsters to step up. Could really do with a few of Mahon, Gallacher, Bair, Ballantyne or Wee max proving themselves. If Hendry, Clark and McCart go, there isn't much Premiership experience left

You'd have to guess Vertainen will be off. Didnt seem to be at McDiarmid on Monday night when everyone else was.

Courier mentioning MOH wanting to leave makes me think that's been discussed and he'll go.

I can't see him letting Crawford go tbh, or May. Gilmour I dunno.

Surely... hopefully... maybe with the impact of Hallberg. The return of Spoony and having Kucheriavyi in there could be some scope for punting Crawford?

But then it is a stupidly long contract so maybe a loan out? He's popular in Hamilton.

Would depend on when Wotherspoon returns.

I can fully see us running with Hallberg and Crawford as the two vying for the more attacking midfield role, Max going out on loan to the Championship, and Wotherspoon not being up to regular games until the windows shut.

I've a horrible feeling we might see attempts at Hallberg and Crawford either side of Kane, with something like Davidson and MacPherson behind them.

O’Halloron apparently put his house up for sale months ago, admittedly he does live out near Glasgow, but strange move of he expected to stay at saints.

Maybe he just wants a new house?

Still can't believe we really gave Crawford a deal until 2024. From memory, was that agreed way before the January window because he scored a goal or two and then had to be quietly announced because it was clearly a honking piece of business that we couldn't go back on?

Frank Fielding is my guess at our new GK.

30+

Played at Millwall under Rowett.

Client of Stellar Agency (Allan Preston).

Available to be loaned.

Ticks literally every box.

"He made his debut on 3 August 2013, in a 2–2 draw against Bradford City. The club made a disastrous start to the season, winning just four points from their opening eight games as Fielding conceded nineteen goals. He was subsequently replaced as first choice 'keeper by Elliot Parish."

Oh god.
