Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

The reaction from Twitter based rangers fans pretty much shows why we’ll never be rid of this kind of crap. Apparently posting a picture suggesting that your stadium having seats wrecked and being plastered in sectarian nonsense means you are “crying” and that it’s a reaction to losing rather than seeing your ground being vandalised.

Plenty on there that “stand with the banned” and basically think that kind of nonsense is not just OK but to be encouraged.

And the problem is the authorities continue to turn a blind eye.

Surely the club know who bought what ticket, so just bill them directly. Sectarian stickers, contact police Scotland.

I can't remember the exact details of the reply when this sort of thing was questioned at the season ticket holders forum before lockdown

But roughly speaking it was that the Club would never make to much of a fuss when any of the OF damage seats etc

The bill would be sent to them and nothing much else because the OF could make life difficult for Saints and we wouldn't see the likes of  O'Halloran or  Middleton type loans and that type of stuff.

So roll over and take it because of big bullies?

Theres always been rumours that Celtic/Rangers agree a fee with the other 10 clubs before the season starts, a fee which is paid after every away game the OF play, as its inevitable their fans will cause damage.

something like this was mentioned at ST forum

I was at that forum and Steve Brown was talking about the damage Celtic fans do when they visit.  He was commenting how long it had taken Celtic to pay for the damage on recent occasions. Sure he said something like 50-60 seats and other fittings and fixtures inside the stand. Looks like rangers are just as bad.

But yes, when asked why it wasn't publicised to shame them, the answer was along the lines of not being in our interests e.g.  for loan players.  They'd just given us Tony Ralston on loan, and Wallace Duffy around the time; if that isn't reason to name and shame them then I don't know what is.

Its scummy behaviour,  but to be honest I've been at Saints away games where folk block the sinks and leave the taps running in a bid to flood the toilets, smashed seats at Tynecastle in the league cup semi final etc.  Just seems to be what young wannabes do.

I suppose, given there is 4-5k away fans in the stadium, there is bound to be breakages. Particularly with the age of the seats, but some of the damage is beyond wear and tear. I suspect we end up having to pay for broken seats elsewhere sometimes.

You'd have to wonder though, given the damage is caused in a section where there was a particular group, would the police not have been keeping a close eye on that bit anyway?

You only have to look at the reaction to John McGinn being abused by a Chelsea fan in a sectarian manner to see the difference. Even a club statement from Villa thanking Chelsea for investigating the matter.

We treat it as the norm up here and let the bigot brothers get away with murder.

I’m trying to figure out if Saints are hinting at a signing when they keep talking about these interesting celebrations.

Think they're just reminiscing about the olden days where we occasionally scored more than one goal a game

Can't think of anyone we could get who scores FIFA-esque goals and has a famous celebration tbh.

What yesterday showed was that Wotherspoon is not a central midfielder. Why did CD want to play MOH  Middleton Wotherspoon and Kane there is only room for 3 in the formation. Away in Europe a high intensity pressure game worked but we had McCann and Davidson in midfield with a front 3 of MOH Kane and Wotherspoon and in the other game a front 3 of MOH Kane and Middleton Yesterday he decided to replace McCann with Wotherspoon it did not work Crawford coming on in the middle made a big difference.

As for the high intensity game why did it not work again the problem from midfield MOH Kane and Middleton shut down their back 4 but there was no pressure on the midfield players in the centre of the park where they easily picked up the balls coming from the back. Eventually the front 3 got disheartened and stopped the high pressure

With our formation pick any 3 from Wotherspoon MOH Middleton May Kane and Vertainen Now that is a good problem to have
