Bairnardo 28,521 Report post Posted August 19, 2019 Just seen a video of Ricky Hatton in a horrendous nick with drink. Googled it and not sure if its out there, but he doesnt look in a particularly good way in it.

I don't think that fight would be anything other than extremely close.
Neilly 1,297 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 Really looking forward to Kovalev/Yarde tomorrow it intrigues me greatly. It's really difficult to judge Yarde as he has fought absolutely no one of note but has looked a beast all the same. How can he possibly jump from that to a world level fighter? Is he the real deal? He doesn't look it to me but I'm willing to be proved wrong. For me it's a brutal KO win for Kovalev but would be some story if Yarde was actually the real deal.

I'm really intrigued by it to, although it's more to see what sort of condition Kovalev arrives in. On his game he's been an elite level fighter for the last half-decade, but he's had a fair bit of legal trouble recently, including getting chucked off a flight for trying it on with a woman (that definitely wasn't his wife) whilst absolutely steaming, so could be that he isn't fully focussed. Might be that he's on his game and batters Yarde who, as you say, equally might be wildly out of his depth, or a guy on the up that'll dominate for years. So many unknowns and so much intrigue. Should be great.

Shandön Par 19,038 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 It would be some coup for Yarde's trainer too if he wins. He's basically the Captain Redbeard Rum of the training world.

Bairnardo 28,521 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 Yarde needs to get at Kovalev on the inside. Kovalev has a mental collapse in him if he cant bully the guy across from him, and he has piss poor inside game. If Yarde has any at all then thats the way to beat Kov. You have to grind him out.
NJ2 4,558 Report post Posted August 23, 2019 Really intrigued by Kov Yarde. Is Yarde the real deal? As said, fought nobody but looks a beast. Is Kov over the hill now? In any event, fair fucks to Yarde for being game to go over and give it his best. I hope he wins.

Not sure if Yarde is the type of fighter to approach it that way. And for the record, Tunde Ajayi is very annoying.
J_Stewart 5,446 Report post Posted August 24, 2019 Ring walks just away to start. No real confidence in it, but stuck a tenner on a Yarde KO win.

Missed this first time out, but not sure I agree with it. Andre Ward implemented this to perfection, but Andre Ward was the best fighter of his generation IMO, and I’m not convinced anyone else could have broken Kov’s heart and body like he did. Not sure it’s a fair statement to suggest it’s a tried and tested method of beating big Kov.

GiGi 5,243 Report post Posted August 24, 2019 He does, and playing it fairly safe too. Doing a professional job on Yards who needs to change the pace and distance he's fighting at.
GiGi 5,243 Report post Posted August 24, 2019 Yarde obviously lookingbto wait until Kovalev tires late and go for the ko.
