The Master
Dumbarton 1883 Queen's Park 1893 Dundee 1910 Partick Thistle 1921 Greenock Morton 1922 East Fife 1938 Clyde 1958 While our record is shocking, abysmal and mintertastic, and I cry salty tears every time I think about it (and every time I don't think about it), at least in the intervening period we've added four further major honours and spent the vast majority of our time in the Scottish top flight. Whereas Morton have been, well, Morton.
Broomhill Ultra
If Dundee hadn't lain down to their blue brothers at Ibrox they could have had a shot at it today.
vikingTON
Morton's historical record marks them out as one of the most successful provincial-based clubs in the country; Dundee FC by contrast are now the supreme, unchallenged failures of the city clubs. And Morton have still lifted the famous trophy more recently than your outfit. Unlucky.
The Master
Morton's historical record marks them out as one of the most successful provincial-based clubs in the country; You need to look up the definition of "provincial". And also, thanks for the laugh. It was good respite from my salty tears.

sydney
The irony of a Morton fan slagging off Dundee. Priceless !

vikingTON
I must have missed all those trophies that Stirling Albion won. Stirling was only made a city in 2002 champ. We're dealing with the actual, historic cities that have held that status all the way back when Dundee's slithered to their Scottish Cup win. Of course, both Perth and Inverness have also been made cities in the 106 years since; and their clubs managed to win the Scottish Cup within two and fifteen years of attaining city status. As opposed to 106 years of utter fail for the city of Dundee's 'establishment club'. Minter.
Deeboy
You'll have to watch your back with all that moving of the goalposts. Lift with the knees, bruh.
The Master
Stirling was only made a city in 2002 champ. So Stirling is a city. Your swinging and missing is reaching minter proportions. I almost feel sorry for you.
MDCCCXCIII
Sadly it's been so long since our cup win that all the cup winning team are long dead and cannot tell their stories. Dundee fans have to put up with the endless dinner speeches by some haddies who won some league and got pretty far in some pan - European diddy cup. Oh to be a Morton fan...
vikingTON
You need to look up the definition of "provincial". provincial - belonging or peculiar to some particular province; local: The 'provinces' in the context of Scotland being of course the historic counties: Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire etc. So yes, Morton are indeed a provincial club in Scotland as opposed to the city clubs. Of that latter group, you have just been elevated to being the biggest historical failures. Gutted for you.
vikingTON
Your swinging and missing is reaching minter proportions. I think you'll find it take 106 years of solid swinging and missing for that category to kick in.

In British English, "province" means "the whole of a country outside the capital, especially when regarded as lacking in sophistication or culture". So while the latter part in particular certainly applies to Greenock (and then some), it is the case that every part of Scotland not within Edinburgh is "provincial". Unlucky.

vikingTON
So Stirling is a city. Your swinging and missing is reaching minter proportions. I almost feel sorry for you. Stirling Albion only represented an area of Stirlingshire before 2002 and therefore spent 92 of your 106 years of hurt as a provincial club. Dundee spent all 106 years as a city club and so are supreme, unchallenged failures in their class. Better luck next time. Take your English shite elsewhere please; better luck next time.
vikingTON
Morton are 142 years old, m9. And as one of the twenty oldest clubs in the history of the game, have won the Scottish Cup more recently than the supreme failures of Scottish football, Dundee FC. As have Saint Johnstone; Inverness Caledonian Thistle; Partick Thistle; Motherwell; Falkirk; Kilmarnock; Clyde; Airdrieonians; Saint Mirren; East Fife; Dunfermline. And now Hibs. Just let that sink in.
