Bump.

The Diddees have now got just four seasons left to avoid taking over Hibs’ mantle as the longest Scottish Cup trophy drought ever experienced by a professional football club. Just let that sink in.

January 2024, here we come!

Morten.

Thank you.

Just Googled the 1910 Scottish Cup final and even though Dundee won it they took 3 attempts. The final finished 2-2 so went to a replay that finished 0-0 so a second replay was played which Dundee eventually won 2-1.

Joke club.

Didn’t realise it was Clyde they beat in the final. Surely the most embarrassing result in our history - and that’s some accolade.

Interestingly, I noticed on Wikipedia it says Queen’s Park beat Clyde 1-0 in the QF but it was Clyde who went on to play Celtic in the semis. Anyone know the script there or is it just a typo?

According to the article on the Dundee site

“Clyde were the competition’s shock troops having accounted for Rangers, Queen’s Park and Celtic in earlier rounds and also fancied themselves to lift the Cup.”

https://dundeefc.co.uk/club/history/our-triumphs/1910-scottish-cup/

 The parade sounds mental

“A crowd of 20,000 awaited the Dundee team when they arrived back in the early hours of the morning and amid delirium and chaos, the Dundee party boarded horse drawn carriages in Dock Street before the horses were unyoked on Union Street as the fans took over for the journey to Dens.

Scores of fans however jumped onto the carriage before the back axle collapsed on Victoria Road and the Dundee team made the rest of the journey up the brae to Dens on foot, with a police escort, waving the Cup as they went.”

Clyde won the game 2-1 in a second replay at Celtic Park, following two 2-2 draws.

As the new, longest-standing historical failures of the Scottish game: will Dundee FC ever win the Scottish Cup again?

Bump. Another year, another insipid failure for the record books.

Dundee.

I notice you waited until Morton scraped through AET against a team from a league below before posting.

I hope we get you at SMP next round and extend your years of hurt to 100.

Being widely talked about for humiliating reasons isn't a good thing.

As Oscar Wilde once said, the only thing worse than being talked about is failing to win the Scottish Cup for the 111th consecutive year

I can't see DFC's Scottish Cup efforts improving any time remotely soon either.

Would be the upset of the century if they won it at some stage in my lifetime.
