Dons_1988
Certainly putting other clubs, including my own to shame, well done Motherwell. As an aside (and apologies if I missed it) but are there other options for donating/investment other than obviously merchandise etc? Just thinking if Aberdeen were to offer similar I'd still feel like I wanted to give them something if not my ST money.

dezz
I didn’t realise that the club are also matching all funds raised through the donation scheme. We’re some club btw. We could be in for some very decent attendance figures at Fir Park next season which would be great to see after the last 14 months.
Widge
Got to applaud Motherwell for doing what they're doing, it's a really excellent gesture and you'll rightly get plaudits for it. It's one of those, where most season ticket holders already pay for their ticket every year without thinking and it isn't making a difference to their lives, but actually could entice the next super fan along for the season who'd normally been unable to go.
Ron Aldo
I'm absolutely shocked that, from what I've seen, it only seems to be one group of perma-raging fans who feel the need to stick the boot in over what is an amazing gesture by the club. This is one of my favourites. The irony is obviously lost on him in that had the Rangers fans stuck some money in 10 years ago his club maybe wouldn't have died.
Dons_1988
Cody actually thinks Motherwell will win the league if they just paid their ST money. An interesting insight into the mind of an OF fan.

crazylegsjoe_mfc
"Not every club can afford this following a very difficult season" Fantastic analysis. By that logic, Celtic shouldn't have signed Odsonne Edouard for 9 million, if the rest of the teams in the league couldn't afford to sign someone for 9 million.

To be honest it is atypical of social media. People get to talk BS all the time and have weird takes on almost everything ! Fortunately 90%+ of comments on the original tweet are positive. The club did make this pledge but they could have backtracked or come up with a halfway solution. I listened to Flow on Clyde Super podcast this morning and he simply said we are standing by the fans as it is they who have stood by us (Well Society) and will do so again when the time comes. He does talk a lot of sense and he is bang on the money imho.

Fans have backed clubs when there was little or no prospect of getting into games. We should have been paid to watch the streams! You would think that other clubs would have the same insurance etc in place that we have and could use that to help fans out. Where burrows and co should be applauded is the refunds being offered on last years and the giving out of free tickets. That’s an amazing gesture. I was wondering this myself actually. I'm not sure how the insurance cover would work as in, would it cover any losses on an average attendance basis? Number of season ticket holders basis? Or some other way. Additionally, would it also include European competition given that progress in this is not guaranteed? For example if my club, Rangers, had made a claim to include Europa League group stage gate receipts, would they flat out refuse this based on the fact that progress in Europe is not guaranteed? Regardless, well done Motherwell.
