We completely underestimated the time it would take us to walk from the centre of Odense to the ground and were running pretty late. Fortunately some locals on their way to the game pulled over and offered us a lift - nice guys the Danes!

If you're going to lose 2-1 in an away leg then a top-corner free-kick in the last minute to make it 2-1 is probably the best way to do it.

I also did the overnight bus from Fir Park to Dortmund - for all the complaints about budget airlines they're a hell of a lot better than being on a bus that needs mopped out at Dover.

Did you not do the march?  200 yard long column of ‘Well fans with a police escort.

I would've said Dean Cornelius.

Hmmmm...I thought he looked a bit old to be Cornelius although it's not a particularly flattering picture. It could well be him.

Reason I mention is that a recent dip into Steelmen threw up the nugget that we apparently had a trialist playing in that bounce game against Hearts.

With a tip of the hat to @Onthefringes for the info.

The march in Nancy was superb. My pals and I got a lift to some nightclub off a French bird who’d had about 8 pints with us. I think we hit every curb on the way there.

The Nancy-Lorraine Publicans Society still refer to that day as "Golden Thursday", their biggest day's takings since VE Day.

When we realised that people were buying drink from the shop off the square we decided to follow suit and were able to grab the last pack of 12 beers, it was 2 bottles in before we noticed the sans alcohol message.

As we passed the red wine shelf the empty bottle of Buckie seemed fitting.

Nancy...honestly you could write a book on the journey over and more so on the way back. Surreal does not come close. I was so sleep deprived I nearly missed the game and my mates at the last minute got me out the Ibis and into the 1000’s on the march to the stadium. I think I had one pint after the game. The least I have EVER drunk at a European away game.

My abiding memory of Odense was persuading a very attractive Danish lass to give me a go on her bike at around midnight. She said be careful it is brand new. I told her not to worry as I hopped on and proceeded to cycle about 20 yards into a shop window and fell off. She was not best amused.
