No wonder the commentators are saying lots of Motherwell supporters are leaving. I don’t think I’ve ever watched it back other than the goals. Probably why in my mind I’d convinced myself that Hibs scored with just about every attack in the 1st half. Watching this back though Riordan’s been clean through and missed, Nish has hit the post and also been wiped out in the box by Craigan. He never really gets mentioned much but Jim O’Brien really was terrific for us that season, enjoyed watching him there. Also chuckled at Tom Hateley somehow continuing to convince the Scottish media he was some sort of dead ball specialist. Also (back pass aside obviously) it’s a shame Giles Coke didn’t bother his arse like this more often cause he could be some player when he fancied it.

I remember John Hughes saying at the time that most folk would blame his defenders for the result, but he thought his forwards were just as much to blame. (Though more for sitting too deep in the second half, than for missing chances in the first.) Edited May 3, 2020 by Gallus Numpty
steelmen
Surely sky will show the post match man of the match interview with Nish and juke. Nish looking near suicidal. scoring a hat trick and having to hand over the champagne is just cruel
Munoz
Sutton's 2 headers were crackers, especially his first one.

If he'd left Stokes on it'd have gone down solely as a remarkable pumping by Hibs.
RostokMcSpoons
This article in the Telegraph showed up in my news feed... Stephen Robinson article Hopefully you guys can read it, and is not stuck behind a paywall. (I'm not a subscriber but I could view it on my phone) Its a complimentary piece talking about how Motherwell has evolved under his leadership, and even has pretty pictures of the team shape changing during an attack.

Speaking of penalties, I came across this article from the time while idly Googling "6-6", as you do. MOTHERWELL 6 HIBS 6 EQUALS WORLD RECORD FOR SCORING DRAW Quote The last time a 6-6 draw happened in the professional game was on Saturday 7 August 1999, when Genk – then the Champions of Belgium – opened their title defence in the 1999-2000 season with a 12-goal thriller against Westerlo. That match included five penalties and four red cards. Fucking hell, that's nearly as good as ours!
steelmen
I’m sure it was a good game with some nice goals but I bet they never had a goal like the Jukes.

See what those WWF guys do, just go out and do the same (unless it's against celtic).

Gianfranco
I loved the Juke. I wasn’t sure about him to start with but as soon as he scored his goals in the comeback draw at St Mirren (3-3 I think) you could tell there was something about him.
steelmen
What impressed me more was his dedication, you don’t normally get that in a loan player. He had a dodgy knee for the last few games but kept on wanting to play and he got stitched up at half time, after Handsome John tore his leg, and wanted to play on. He’s had a fairly decent career down south, it was great to have him for that season
YassinMoutaouakil
I watched that game on Teletext at a caravan park in Dunoon Never been entirely sure what formation Hibs lined up with that included Derek Riordan, Anthony Stokes and Colin Nish. capt_oats
I was also at Pavement. I like Pavement a lot. and if you think I'm diving head first into a YouTube wormhole for the rest of the afternoon then you'd be absolutely right.
