He then scored 9 goals in less than 30 games the following season as we finished top 6 under McGhee. He also netted us a transfer fee when he moved back to India. Admittedly when we re-signed him the following year after his 2nd spell in India he was done but he was an excellent signing 1st time round. Any excuse to break this out... In other news Frear playing as a trialist for Oxford tonight. Same neck of the woods as FGR where we signed him from innit. Alfie signs with Queens Park. Ron Aldo
Nothing against Frear but he's doing well if he manages to get himself a move to League 1. Also, do Oxford only ever scout our games?

YassinMoutaouakil
Idiots playing the ball into Frear's feet, he deals exclusively in scissor kicks now.
Busta Nut
Who is on the Oxford staff that they are daft about our players?
Archie McSquackle
Re-signing players has evidently worked for us many times. Not only have they performed but gives the fans that extra bit of buzz. For example, Skippy pivotal in keeping us up against the h***, Pearson aswell. Faddy at first was immense when he came back, the list goes on. Of course it won’t work with times like McCormack and Clarkson. Always worth the chance IMO, only if they are available and in budget with something to offer to the squad.Going back slightly further, we got good service from the return of Lasley, Hammell and Craigan although they were all around 26 or 27 rather than over 30.
Gianfranco
I miss Gorrin and his crazy hands. ETA Doncaster have appointed Darren Moore so that puts that Robinson rumour to bed.
well fan for life
I miss Gorrín throwing big hammers about when he was on a booking.
Gianfranco
Scott Burns tweeting that a one year deal agreed with Christian Pulic (assuming same guy) once Sepsi confirm the deal they signed earlier in summer terminated. Sepsi can’t honour deal anymore.

one m in Motherwell
We’re almost getting back up to the days when we had the Most Handsome Team in the World
Casagolda
So, if/when Christian signs on is that about us done then? If the club are indeed still waiting/trying for Gboly, it suggests that there’s at least room in the budget for one more forward. After that, I imagine anything else would probably be dependent on folk leaving.

I know Christian was playing on the right wing in the Darlington friendly but going by his playing history he's almost certainly a left back. Begs the question as to whether we might see Livingstone either out on loan or possibly moved further forward? The short interview with Maguire that went out on the socials yesterday had him talking about enjoying the opportunity to play as a #6 and an #8 so you'd think he's looking at getting some minutes in midfield. I suppose the same will go for Donnelly. I've included the 4 #YoungMotherwell who have been involved in pre-season along with the two long-term injuries. It depends on Turnbull's rehab timeframe but we probably still look a little light in the centre of the park. As it stands IMO: 21 available first team 2 long term injuries 4 #YoungMotherwell Edited July 11, 2019 by capt_oats
Casagolda
I’d say looking at that, we’re pretty well covered in most areas. Plus, Ilic looks like he could fill numerous positions if required. Could still do with another decent option in the forward area, be that Gboly or someone else. Maybe look pretty light in the middle of the park actually. However, I suppose a lot could depend on what happens with Turnbull and how long he’s out for.

We beat Aberdeen 4-1, Murphy sets up the first and scores two great goals but you go and abuse him over a missed penalty. Murphy was an oustanding player for us. Did you go on twitter and give Turnbull abuse when he missed his hattrick penalty against Livingston? Agreed, grown men taking to twitter to have a pop at players is embarrassing, even more so in the circumstances of this game.

I think a lot might hinge on Sloth as well, specifically what role he's been brought in to do (prior to signing Robinson was framing him in terms of McHugh/Gorrin leaving). If he's able to do Campbell's job as well then there are possibly permutations in terms of depth. Although he seems to have found his calling as a RB Grimshaw could possibly provide some cover in midfield as well with big Declan covering RB if needed. Beyond that we're only about to hit mid-July so it's unlikely we're completely done but I think we're probably at the stage where we're probably addressing questions: Do Scott and Livingstone need to go out on loan? is Robinson convinced by Donnelly? Danny Johnson Including Cadden there were 13 out from the squad that finished last season. If Christian is confirmed that will be 9 in with Livingstone, Maguire and Scott promoted to the first team. It feels like we're at the stage now where the bulk of the recruitment is done it's more a case of holding a couple of spaces to see if any quality becomes available/affordable towards the end of the window. Busta Nut
Just said similar on SO when he was brought up but IMO Livingstone is as well as leaving.
supermarv
Lets see what the competitive games bring in terms of our strongest team and who is good enough from the new signings. After Ilic I’d say that we are sorted until after Betfred Cup. We then re-assess and look to see where we can improve upon and look at who’s available nearer the end of the window.
