dave.j
We had bespoke kits with Puma (through Greaves) and they were excellent. Now we're stuck with Joma. It's shite. The last two Joma tops have been bespoke.Last seasons hoop top is bloody terrible. The Xl is about an inch or two slimmer than the 14/15 top. Also when the fabric stretches the red turns pink. The stitching across the shoulder blades is annoying too. The quality of the 14/15 top was faultless. Puma had began to piss me off. Its not true to say we got bespoke strips either as one of them was the african world cup paint template. Which was ruined further with red shorts and black socks. That and the fact you could go into greaves. Lift 5 larges off the shelf and every one of them was a different chest size or length. As a final comparison. The badge greaves made for the tops on site was terrible. Really poor quality. TTL get our badges specially made by a company down south and they are far better... but smaller, frustratingly. Also worth noting that our strips werent sourced by greaves from puma. They came from a company in north west england who had a licence to use the puma logo. I think we got out of the deal at the right time. The strips puma provided for 2013/14 were terrible. The v neck collar one that looked like you were wearing a vest underneath. The quality was terrible. You could spit through them
GorgieYaBass
We're definitely far better off running our own retail; we brought in over £2million from the club shop and online in the last financial year, around a sixth of our overall turnover. Before Adidas we had a sh1tey outsourced deal with "Just Sport" where we got cheaply made overpriced teamwear with very limited stock. I don't know if this would work as well at other clubs but we've definitely benefited from it. Aye, I'm quite lookin forward to seeing what we can do with the retail operation. Cannie be much worse than we've had with this franchise effort. Interesting to hear the amount you've pulled in this last financial year. If we can maximise retail revenue, and increase hospitality income through the new stand, we should be looking good. A million miles away from where we've come from this last couple of years, that much is true!

Savage Henry
I know they are about to gtf off this forum but why do Dundee utd bother with an away kit - who clashes with orange (sorry tangerine!) ? Trying to watch an Aberdeen vs Dundee United game in the sunshine when they are both in their home kits is tough. Distinctly recall a game on STV back in the day when the programme director went down to the referee's changing room at half time and asked one of them to change. He got a swift rebuttal. That said, I don't always follow the rules about why teams change kits. I've seen Ross County play Hearts at Tynecastle in blue, in our change kit, and, bizarrely, Hearts in their away kit and County in blue. I guess it's the referee's discretion? Might be wrong here but I think certain teams do it for commercial reasons, like they are contracted to wear the away kit a certain amount of times per season. Must be why the SFA agreed to play France and Italy before the Euros, so we'd have to wear that god awful pink top.
SCDave
The whole chat about clubs being contracted to wear certain strips a certain numbers of times is a total myth. But yeah, going further up it's basically the referee's decision. The kit-men at the clubs will talk in the run up to the game but essentially it's at the referee's discretion. We've had to wear home shorts/away socks combinations from time to time, as well as wearing previous season socks etc due to fussy ref's.

There was a bizarre situation at the League Cup quarter final last season when ICT apparently emailed County before the game to say they will be wearing their white change kit. Nobody at County seen the email and County turned up also with their white change kit. Cue a hastily arranged police escort for the County kitman to rush back to Dingwall to pick up the home kits in time for kick off.

capt_oats
That Rangers shirt is a bit of a mess. They've taken the collar from the Umbro 85-87 home and added the check detail from the Umbro 87-90 one with the pop button collar but from the looks of things for some bizarre reason have only added that to the sleeves and gone with some completely different detail on the body of the shirt. Had they just picked one idea it'd have looked alright.
