The Partick Thistle thread

I’m no watching but I assume Weston will be playing up front himself in the friendly today, so interested to hear how he does. And Stanway as well, given he’s apparently seen as part of the first team squad now.

I have no idea if Motherwell are playing a full strength team or not, but at first glance it looks a relatively strong side from them.

No trialists in the squad for today. Pretty sure McCall said a couple of weeks ago we planned on playing some vs Motherwell. Guessing Kyle Doherty is gone too.

I dont think championship teams are allowed trialists in the league Cup anyway.

Yeah, really not sure of the merit of this match at all other than getting a look at Weston, Stanway, and McKinnon. Hopefully get through it unscathed.

Game’s been a typical friendly. Bannigan off injured after taking a knock when giving away a foul so we’re playing with 3 teenagers in midfield. Motherwell looking the more likely to score.

How did Weston look through the middle?

Looked brighter out wide. Tbf he was up against Mugabi and ab other total unit. Even their fullbacks dwarved him.

Hope jlow isn’t stringing the foundation along just to keep them quiet until she magically produces her own fans group to take over ,who are the other bidders in this process

McCall reiterating after the game that he is after a striker and a utility defender. Harry Milne was MOTM but never turned up in the Alan Rough suite so Tunji Akinola stepped in Seems a really nice guy. Interesting that he said he didn’t expect to play so many games last season.

There were a few moments where Motherwell really should have scored another goal or two. We seriously lacked punch up front with Tiny Tony Weston up against two man mountains. He stuck. To his task and looked brighter on the ball when switched out right. McCall sees him as an impact player off of the bench for 30 minutes, certainly for the first half of the season. Also stated Fitzpatrick has to do do some work on his shape to avoid another injury hit season.
