The Partick Thistle thread

I was only asking if he was still contracted to QOS.

He's not.

It was only a one year deal he signed and as far as I can see from QOS' website there's no indication of him having signed an extension (otherwise there wouldn't be a conversation about development compensation).

We're on a great run of unveiling never-seen-before (by us) Jagsmen lately. It's a combination of catch-up post-database-crash, some inspired digging by ourselves and some great contributions from modern-day descendants. Five more have been added since we last posted here, taking us up to the great milestone of 1,300 Jagsmen with a face to their name.

Yep, after some 10 years of digging, scanning, cropping and whatnot, we're seeing our 1,300th Partick Thistle player (John Hastie) image today, and what a cracking shot it is; all the way from his great granddaughter, Ros, in Australia.

It's a huge gathering, and possibly even the largest tally of first team player images of any club side in the world. Special mentions for Stuart Deans for breaking the ground with this task many moons ago, and to Joe Kelly for all his great digging in recent times. We'll keep at it, you just never know what could still be lurking out there!

Incidentally, just like Doolan vs. County, we've passed the milestone immediately (behind the scenes) and we'll have news of this shortly when they've been applied.

Full details (and keep your eye on) our home page news... →

p.s.  Could you help with our missing player images?

Are we talking about compensation to bring back Aiden Fitzpatrick, who came through our academy. Surely we’d owe the majority of development compensation to ourselves with almost nothing to QoS?

Did you not get something like £350,000 for him when he went to Norwich does that not cover his development with you .

He has been with Queens for the best part of 2 seasons yet you think you should get him back for next to nothing .

Think a fee of around £20,000 is what we deserve .

Has he done much to deserve a fee of £20k???

He’s been at QOS permanently for a season and that’s all that’ll be taken into consideration. Doubt you’ll be due 20 grand but it’s not the first time you’ve plucked a figure out of thin air.

One season in a QOS team that was relegated to League One.

I'd offer them Cammy Smith and that's being generous.

The section on development contributions is in the league rules Section F pages 81-84

Assuming I'm reading this correctly then going by the table below QOS would be due £9k.

Quote

Compensation
F3 Compensation shall be payable to the former Club of a Player only where the Player concerned is Registered with his new Club at or before the end of the first Season in which the Player concerned reaches, will reach or shall have reached the age of 23.

Does that formula not relate to something else?

You reference Falkirk wanting £500k for Sibbald when they would have been due < £100k based on those figures which are probably higher now than 5 years ago - also as Fitzpatrick joined QoS permanently at age 20 they wouldn't be classed as part of his development.

Think the relevant part is a few pages prior , pp80-81 which has the criteria that @RandomGuy. mentioned so it'll go to tribunal rather than set fee. As will Rudden, which you'd think would be higher for us than anything due for Fitzpatrick as Rudden was here for 2.5 years (AF at QoS for 1), we paid a fee to sign him from Rangers (AF on a free) and Rudden has u21 caps (AF has either u17 or u19, maybe both)

Aye, there are two distinct sections; compensation and development contribution and you're right that schedule falls under the development contribution section.

We also got £350k from Rangers for Hastie who left when he was 21 and had been with us since he was 11 or something.
