Nightmare
Seen there’s a few Twitter rumours about Jack McMillan signing as well. Hopefully these are true as he’d certainly be an upgrade on last season and a much better option than Muirhead. Then Muirhead can just serve as a backup for both CB and RB.

Just awful. In this case it might be a blessing that Ian McCall is obsessed with the Bannigan & Docherty midfield pairing. With both of them plus Turner and I’m assuming soon to be Crawford as well, Muirhead will be pretty far down the pecking order as a CM. Thankfully.

Never anything out of the box with him really. That's fine with me. Most of our 'out of the box' signings do nothing for us - thinking the likes of Austin, Coulibaly, Ntwambe, Nitriansky, German. Doolan and Erskine were out of the box signings by McCall and they became club legends. I tend to think recruitment - at this level - is a strong point of McCall's; in that he gets more right than wrong, not that he doesn't make mistakes. Just awful. Bannigan, Docherty, Turner and Crawford will all be ahead of him so thankfully that’s an unlikely scenario. One thing Muirhead would add to the team is a bit of physicality which we have lacked at times this season (notably against Arbroath).
D'Jaffo
...and yet we'd take Uncle Ian back in a heart beat.Would probably have him back for a year to get a more solid footing in the league but no more than that. He wouldn’t have got us promoted.

Even when McCall was manager it seemed like it was more him/the side going above expectations rather than actually aiming to be challenging.

Are Ayr planning to get promoted from this division? Even when McCall was manager it seemed like it was more him/the side going above expectations rather than actually aiming to be challenging. A lot has changed at the club since McCall left. We were basically a part time club with a full time playing squad that shot way above what anyone besides McCall had planned. With the additions off the field it looks like we’re getting the infrastructure in place before actually making an attempt at going up.

Considering we're now flinging about three year deals for players, and building up a proper backroom staff, the new owners aim is def promotion.

Seen that too, and while I’m usually sceptical with Twitter rumours they were spot on about Milne. It would be a very good bit of business anyway. If we’re lining up with a back five then I think the below would be up there with anything in the division. Milne- Holt- Brownlie - Akinola - McMillan

We are always getting linked with Ayr players that McCall managed. I'd rather have Regan Tumility. Another possibility is Jason Naismith who was out of favour under McInnes. Ex loanee Jack McMillan, out of contract at Livingston, could be a decent shout too. 3 hours ago, Nightmare said: Seen there’s a few Twitter rumours about Jack McMillan signing as well.
