Thistle For Ever working Group update

As previously announced, both Thistle for Ever and the PTFC Trust have been invited to be part of a Working Group to make recommendations to both the boards of Partick Thistle Football Club and Three Black Cats setting out how the club can move forward as a community-owned club.
Acceptance of these recommendations would trigger the transfer of shares from Three Black Cats to the appropriate vehicle considered most appropriate for this purpose.
A key part of this process will include engagement with Thistle fans on as wide a basis as possible so that the proposals can clearly be seen to have their approval.
The members of the core Working Group are:

Craig Dunn
Paul Goodwin
Pauline Graham
Allan Heron
Tom Hosie
Russel McPhate
Keith Rarity
Gordon Ross
Elaine Sibbald
Ian Wright

This group is made up of fans associated with Thistle for Ever, PTFC Trust and others who have indicated an early interest in getting involved in this process. Please note that there are no Directors of the club included on the Working Group to avoid any conflict of interest as they will have a role in approving the recommendations arising.

The initial meeting of the Working Group will take place this week where we will firm up on future activities (which will include opportunities for other fans to get involved). However, we do anticipate that we will be issuing a questionnaire for fans to complete, with the intention of having a public meeting in January which will both share the results from this along with a wider discussion of what community ownership will mean.

A further announcement will be made as soon as possible after the meeting.

Until they change the fucking awful name, they can f**k off.  Spell it right you absolute c***s.

If we are to get fans involved in actually making decisions, I want to know that they're actually qualified in anything other than "ah pure love Thistle".  We're not some middling team just chuntering along needing little input, there's some absolutely massive decisions that are going to need to be made, and I want to know that these people are actually in a place to make them.  Have my doubts.

Remember our assistant manger manager signed a lot of these players...and released a guy who scored 4 against us..

It's not a great look with Nisbet.  We haven't had a good striker in what seems like fucking ages.  Nisbet is hardly going to be on his way to a Scotland call-up, but he's scoring goals at the level we're likely to get punted out of at the end of the season.  Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but it's looking like a very poor decision.

I had no problem with getting rid of Nisbet at the time. He was so out of his depth with us in the top flight that it was no guarantee he’d be a good player at this level either.

The year banging them in against diddies at League One probably helped his career a lot. Got him some confidence he might never have found if he’d stayed with us after relegation.

From what I recall hearing, us punting Nisbet gave him the reality check he needed to sort his act out a bit.

He was absolutely atrocious with us as well, and had some really poor spells out on loan at Ayr and Dumbarton. I don’t think anyone at the time would have predicted he’d be playing at this level regularly when he left us.

No one complaint when he was released.

Just came on here to see what the Thistle fans view is of the performance on Saturday. Not surprised to see O’Ware taking most of the criticism. No fan deserves to see their team ‘perform’ like that. Doesn’t help that it was your captain who threw the game away after 4 minutes.

Regarding the posts about Nisbet, there’s absolutely no guarantee you’d get this version of him, if you’d kept him. In fact, I’d say it’s unlikely. He’s gone on record himself, saying that getting released, then turned down by numerous championship clubs (including us) last summer, was the reality check he needed. He was undoubtedly excellent in league one last season. He showed some glimpses with us early on this season, without really scoring many in the league. But he seems to be hitting form now. His post-match interview on our official site kind of suggests you made the right call at the time though, thought you may be interested to read his comments.

Interesting.

I saw him play on loan at Dumbarton towards the end of his time at Firhill and he was terrible.

There was nothing to suggest then that his career was heading in anything other than a downwards trajectory. He's clearly made the most of his second chance not that he had to work too hard for his goals at the weekend.

What an uninspiring group of 'always involveds'.

If this is the first brave steps in a new world of fan ownership, we are fckd
