The Partick Thistle thread

Just now, Walter said:

No hard feelings Gary, you tried your best. Goodbye and good luck with your future career.

That gif sums up my thoughts exactly.

The club statement didn't thank him or wish him well for the future... 😀

It didn't mention Brian Kerr. Could he be the caretaker with Miller as his assistant?

There's no denying the growing validity of the case against him, and I was teetering on the brink myself, but personally with the prospect of a top 4 challenge not irretrievably down the pan I'd have kept him a couple more games.

A lot of the discontent against him is quite reasonably based on poor results, but much of it is also laced with butthurt over (correctly) punting Erskine and Doolan as well as spurious claims of dressing room unrest, which if true would only point out to me the unlanced presence of some poison in the playing squad.

Nonetheless we have recruited a half-decent squad for the level we are at. A solid enough manager not too hung up on the Steven Pressley Guide to Football Philosophy should have enough there to organise us into a position of some upper mid-table form.

Earlier today, the board of Partick Thistle Football Club informed manager Gary Caldwell that his contract has been terminated with immediate effect.

A further update will be provided later today

Do we really need a further update? [emoji848]

It’s just directors quotes saying how much of a useless c**t Caldwell was.

Highly unlikely. McCall is, rightly, very loyal to his Chairman for giving him the chance to return to management.
I'm not at the wind up here, but given the absolute nick of Thistle just now it would be a massive step backwards for McCall.

Similar to Shankland in the summer right enough.

Kenny Miller in interim charge would make sense while the takeover is sorted.

By make sense I of course mean it'll be a complete disaster.

anyway yeah, no point in dragging it out any further.

Bye Gary, hopefully your philosophy works at Dulwich Hamlet FC or wherever you end up blagging your next job from (assuming of course that he's got any credibility left at all)

tbh I'm fine with Miller as a stop-gap (can it really get any worse in the short term?) but we absolutely need to get the next appointment bang on, can't afford to keep writing seasons off as having no chance of getting one of the promotion playoff places before we've hit Christmas. Shite as our start has been the season can still be salvaged.

Wouldn't be too averse to Danny Lennon (who I think it'll be) but it's a bit uninspiring. I'd be inclined to give it to Craigan though. Did well with the Motherwell youth by all accounts, and with the BT Sport coverage of Scottish football running out at the end of the season, might well be seeking employment soon enough.

I feel by sacking Caldwell we may have “lanced the poison”...

It'll be nice to have a reduction in the toxicity levels for a competitive game at Firhill. Carry on the good vibes from Saturday is what I say ❤💛

I dont understand the clamouring for Danny Lennon. He has been a decent manager at the 4th tier and sometimes 3rd. Failure at St Mirren & Alloa cant be ignored.

His success at Clyde is solely down to playing a rapist who other clubs in the country wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

I don't think you can describe his tenure in paisley as a failure. Won a league cup and kept them in the league season upon season playing decent football.
