I’d be interested to see Kris Doolan’s goals per minute played in the 2018-19 season compared directly against Kenny Miller’s in 2019-20.

Especially considering the likely wage difference between the two.

Going by transfermarkt...

Doolan: 39 games, 6 goals, 2 assists, 447 minutes a goal

Miller: 32 games, 10 goals, 1 assist, 267 minutes a goal

So undoubtedly, Miller did better based on the stats, but once you start to take into account the much bigger cost, then it's not really that much of an improvement.

What proportion of Doolan’s games were starts compared to Miller’s?

Aw for fu...

Best I can tell, Miller was subbed on 3 times, and Doolan 8.  Perhaps damningly, Doolan was brought off in 15 of his 30 appearances.  He only scored once off the bench, same as Big Ken.

After 32 games last season Doolan had scored four goals.

McCall has never sorted out the defence..goalkeeping postion is a worry...2 goalies who dont command there area....does todays game count as it was windy...McCall needs to sort this out asap...his team now..been very well backed by board and fans...other managers in this position would be taking a pounding...2 weeks till next league game..couldnt give a f**k about the whatever its called cup..

Need to start picking up clean sheets, and start winning games at home. We’ve actually been ok away (obviously not the past couple of games), but the home record is an absolute disgrace.

6 home games between now and the end of the season - Pars, Alloa, Morton, Arbroath, ICT, Dundee. Absolutely must win at least 4 of them.

We're fucked. We need to win 6 of the last 12 games, not happening. The best I think we can hope for is that one of the teams above us goes on a horrendous run and we scrape 9th but I wouldn't back us in the playoffs. Raith next week could be an interesting preview...

Are folk still buying McCall is a good manager rather than he occasionally rocks up at clubs with good players?

McCall stabilised us after Dick Campbell’s disastrous reign last time around. We never got particularly close to promotion under him (best finish was a 2nd where we were never realistically winning it), but were always a competent side at this level. Then with Ayr they yo-yo’d between the second and third tier before putting together a very good team a couple of years ago.

I think the last 15 years of his managerial career point to McCall being a guy who generally achieves the minimum expectation he has at a club without ever particularly going beyond that (last year’s Ayr being an exception). With Thistle he had a club who rank in the 10-15 region of Scottish clubs sitting just below that position in the league system, and then his average league position with Ayr was around 20th, which is probably where they’d rank as well.

I’d say he’s one of the better managers in the second tier, but for most teams that just means he’ll have you stuck here not doing much. Which tbh sounds pretty good right about now.
