Jones out for a few months. Leaves us short of options upfront although Jones hasn’t looked up to much so far.
I can't see the still-life that is Alex Jones being a great miss. Young Mansell is hardly the finished article but at least appears to have some enthusiasm for the game.

So when is Caldwell getting punted then?  I'm always someone who errs on giving the manager time, usually because it's just as much down to the absolute shitebags on the pitch as the manager.  But...well, he's just not going to survive much longer, is he?  We are utterly devoid of anything, and the only reason we got a draw against a team that most people said will go straight back down, is a very generous offside.  We're fucking rank.

EDIT: And I know he's scored, but whatever we're paying Kenny Miller is too fucking much.  I think getting rid of Doolan was probably the right decision in a footballing sense, but to replace him with someone like Miller, on probably decent wages, is something you just can't dress up as anything approaching a good decision.

Yep, has the feeling of a death spiral at this point, with it being an inevitability that even if he's given a bit more time and scrapes a win or two that he'll be gone before the end of the year. Pretty certain we'd give it to Miller as a caretaker until we got someone else in which I'm a bit meh about but somethings got to give. Fair enough there's some new faces at the club but I'm not convinced we're anywhere close to putting together a competitive, livi-esque side. Plus writing yet another season off before Christmas is, well, fucking shite.

And the cycle completes!

I can maybe see why there'd be reticence to act, to be honest.  We're now less than 2 weeks out of the transfer window closing, which is 2 weeks after the point we should have really had a competent manager handling things.  Well, I suppose with the boardroom stuff, that might be unfair.  I was impressed with him in the January window, so maybe targets fell through, or some weren't available due to funds being withdrawn, who knows.  But now any new manager would be stuck for months with a team that is clearly really, really lacking in mental strength, let alone footballing ability.

Of course, whether that's a decent enough reason not to just not let him back on the team bus (if we've got one) tonight is subjective.  I wouldn't exactly be disappointed if he was just fired into the North Sea before they left the city limits.

The apathy is reminiscent of the latter days of McCall and Archibald's days in charge (without any credit in the bank).

Caldwell sounds close to the brink listening to last night's post match interview.

Time for the board to act irrespective of any takeover agreements.

We could well beat an equally insipid Dunfermline side next week's but that would be papering over the gaping fissures, imo.

20 minutes here or 45 minutes there of a half decent performance won't cut it in this league.

Time to go Gary!
