The Partick Thistle thread

Recommended Posts

As has been said, 100% real. Genuinely astonishingly amateurish and - in a lifetime of embarrassing Thistle moments - this has to be up there.

We deserve to be ripped for this, but above all it underlines the pathetic, sub-David Brent nature of Caldwell’s management approach.

Ally Roy the leak it seems.

Right up there in his football achievements with that hat trick scored against Blarney Utd some guy was on here boasting about when we signed him.

That some guy was his dad.

Ally Roy’s dad, if you’re reading this (as I’m sure you are) your son is not only a dreadful footballer but also clearly an untrustworthy wee dobber.

Can sort of see why Caldwell wanted the players to pick their team. He obviously wants to know who the players trust and Roy’s proved that he can’t be trusted (not that it matters anyway becuase he’s absolutely shite).

Not really seeing the issue here. He won't be picking the team based on that. It's more likely that he wants to see what players are up for it, as surely every player will put themselves in it. If not the manager knows they're a shitebag and not up for it.

It might also show if there are any rifts.

Ultimately it's probably a ruse in an attempt to build team spirit. He'll pick his own team and claim it's (gasp, coincidence!) the same as the player's one and it shows that they're all on the same wavelength and trust each other.

For all you know he's done it before.

Of course it could be that he's actually asking them to pick his team for him, but I find that pretty unlikely.

That sounds plausible, yeah. A wee confidence booster or something for him to say before the match, maybe even individually, to each player that they had x number of votes cast from their own teammates to be starting.

Kinda tickled at the thought of #scenes like this the next time the management are with the whole squad, though:
