Definitely age, aided and abetted by years of alcohol consumption.

Think the black shorts were a superstition thing with the team.

Looking good > playing well imo

Hope Kirkwood does well at St Mirren. Very much an attacking central midfielder. Best played in a 4-2-3-1 formation or similar. Always looking to create and loves a dig from distance. If it comes off he can be brilliant, if it doesn't he looks poor.

Jack Ross clearly knows exactly what he's getting.

Magennis is another one to come off the conveyor belt at Ralston. Made a huge impact to the team, even playing of out position on the right to fill in for McCallister (another gem).

Mallan's boots will be hard to fill but we thought the same for McLean and McGinn. He'll be a star this season, if he has another season like last we'll be replacing him with another player from the Ralston conveyor belt and so on.

Don't know a lot about the 2 new guys, always a bit sceptical given our history recently with these kind of signings. Jack knows what he is doing though.

I immediately think of Paul McQuade and Scott Agnew when we make these sorts of signings *shudders*. But as you say we have absolutely no reason to doubt the manager's judgement, particularly when he has worked with Kirkpatrick at two separate clubs and knows what he's getting.

We've definitely had more bad than good experiences signing from the lower leagues (Darren McGregor is the only stand out in recent years) but other teams seem to pick up good players, so there's certainly talent to be found.

The other thing is that Jack knows what's required at this level, and appears to have an idea about how he wants us to play. I think we're going to be a side filled with pace and mobility next season.

Kirkpatrick was on the shortlist for the player of the year So it seems fair enough taking a punt on him (and Ryan if he was to come). A Stenny fan says Stewart was the best keeper in the division last season so, again, that seems fair enough.

We're only asking them to step up one league rather than to the Premiership and Kirkpatrick has already played at this level.
