Stu
You have a link to that? Never seen it before. Tom Hendrie -our manager- at the time has said several times that it had been agreed and was scuppered by red tape. Would be a pretty bizarre thing to make up. Think it was when Barca were over playing a few friendlies in the mid 2000s. He was asked about it and said a few clubs were in for him and didn't know exactly who, or words to that effect. His agent was behind it basically. In 2006/07 we were close to getting Mark Noble on loan from West Ham but a combination of them having injuries and a change of manager scuppered that one. In 2013 we had Dom Dwyer on trial from Sporting Kansas City and wanted to get him on loan for a few months but that got scuppered due to him being a Generation Adidas player and them not thinking the SPL was a high enough standard! He's now won the MLS and is one of the best strikers in the league. We got Isma on loan instead so not the end of the world
The Saintee
I'm sure you heard a couple of their names when we pumped yous in the semis tbh. You stick with wee rejects like Craig and Wotherspoon Pumped aye? 😊 Pretty sure Hibs had to cheat to get passed us. But it's pleasing that beating the mighty St Johnstone has made quite the impression on you 😠
DeeTillEhDeh
Yet still convincingly beat St Johnstone. That must hurt a little. Console yourself with that when you are papped out of the play-offs by Raith Rover's.

But it's pleasing that beating the mighty St Johnstone has made quite the impression on you 😠A penalty won by diving then a deflected winner. Against a side who'd won about two games in two months and had a dressing room in tatters due to one of the players trying to force himself out the club. Clearly that outstrips anything we've achieved in the last five (?) seasons that we've finished above Hibs
PauloPerth
Steve Lomas had a few contacts down south and went to Geoff Brown saying Harry Redknapp was prepared to loan him an exciting young prospect who had yet to break into the Tottenham first team, said he was really promising. Geoff told Lomas he'd already hit his playing budget and said no. within 12-18 months or so he was in Spurs first team and gained a few England caps.. Andros Townsend. Tried to find the interview online but there was no sign of it. If your familiar with 442 they do an interview with an ex player every month that consists of fans emailing their questions in. The St Mirren move was brought up(think it was a Saints fan, boy was from Scotland) and Ronaldinho pretty much said that was the first he had heard about it. Deal with it.
ICTChris
Bobby Williamson wanted to swap Derek riorden and Strven Whittaker for Bobby Mann. Fell through when Hibs had injuries and had to put them both in the first team.

Milnzo
Ian Ferguson was discarded by Aberdeen during THE EIGHTIES!!!!!!! A player I loved to hate but nevertheless went on to become one of the most(possibly THE most) decorated players of the modern era. Scum.
Savage Henry
I bet 4th place in the Premiership St Johnstone are absolutely gutted they don't have McGinn and Fyvie playing for them. And of course both these players would rather be at Hibs than a top flight team because....well, something or other about Alan Stubbs. McGinn and Fyvie >>>>> Premiership midfielders, natch. starryfish
Roy Aitken took in Icelandic defender Hermann Hreidarsson on trial when he was at Aberdeen but didn't offer him a contract. The big man then went on to have a long career in the English Premier League moving clubs for transfer fees totalling not far off £10 million. He also made 89 appearances for Iceland and captained his country as well.

7-2
Morton had Paul Sturrock on trial the summer he signed for Dundee United. Knocked him back because he was too small. We turned him down because his hair was too long. Regarding personal appearance, we also refused Ewan McGregor entry to one of McDiarmid's lounges after a match as he wasn't wearing a tie. We do have standards.
ebbes20silkcut
I recall when aitken binned hriederrson he said he was no better than what we had, Gary smith, John inglis, We were also £50,000 short of signing Graeme kavanagh under Alex Miller, stoke held out and the deal collapsed. John Robertson was a summer long chase for Willie Miller in the 90s hearts rejected a £600,000 offer., in the end he switched attention to Duncan shearer, Ebbs skovdahl, was close to getting Derek mcinnes , assistant at the time Richard moller neilson was advocaats coach at ibrox, and was keen on getting mcinnes on board. mizfit
Any other Saints fans just forgetting Faubert who was wanting a warmer climate and turned up in Ayrshire? Also Andy Robertson who had all but signed then changed to United as our record for players coming through was poor. Seem to remember being told for months when we were in the first division we'd approached Dado Prso. Never believed it though.
