Motherwell vs Hearts

Hearts looked like they've chucked it for this season, would of been on the end of a similar scoreline to Aberdeen last night if we'd taken some of those chances in the 2nd half.

We looked the far sharper and hungrier team today. Closing Hearts down, forcing mistakes and limiting them to very few opportunities. Was surprising how comfortable it was when you consider we had to play the 2nd half without our three experienced first choice midfielders with Leitch(21), Cadden(19) and Scott McDonald making up a makeshift midfield. Don't think Leitch done much to convince McGhee he deserved a new contract though, Cadden however is fast developing into a very good player with another excellent showing today and McDonald was superb again. Thought Ben Hall strolled it again at the back when he came on as well , will be a shame if we can't get him signed up for next season. Good to see Ainsworth back in the team and being effective again, took his goal well and worked hard for the team.

Only downside is we didn't score a few more to make up for that drubbing we got at Tynecastle, McDonald's effort especially when he was through on goal after robbing Bauben was horrific. Still, another good showing and another three points.

Some job McGhee's done, beat Ross County in a few weeks time and he'll have done a clean sweep of all the teams in the league since he came back.

I thought we were "ok" today - not in top form but the fact that we were streets ahead of Hearts should give some idea how woeful they were - they never looked like improving their record at Fir Park at any point.

IMO - we had 3 players that raised themselves above the end-of-season torpor and that was enough to make the difference. I thought Cadden once again looks really promising and put in a good shift (and could feel very unfortunate to have been booked), McManus strolled through the game and had another good game to add to a growing collection since McGhee came in. Best of all was McDonald - you could forgive a guy that has played at the very top level finding life back at a modest team fairly uninspiring but if he does, he never shows it. The effort he puts in every week is an object lesson to the other players in the team and he absolutely bossed midfield today when he dropped back after Las went off - we're *very* fortunate to have him. Won't mention his chance though.....

Overall, it was great to see that the team haven't downed tools yet and we are in with a good shout of 4th place....

Have we ever not put in a dire performance at Fir Park? Dreadful.

On the bright side, we've only got one more brutal away performance to tolerate before the season ends.

See we are no longer allowed to show highlights for the 1st team stuff on youtube now after a tweet sent by Alan Burrows tonight, apparently league rules state we arent allowed which us and several other clubs were not aware of.  Means only under 20s stuff can only be broadcast on youtube now.   Bit of a farce if you ask me.

Did the people that are supposed to enforce these rules just not notice the previous 33 games or something? Couldn't make it up!

This and as you said,  it's every week .

He has the odd bad game but the effort and willingness from him to take a kick for the team when he's probably earned more in his career than the rest combined if you take out McManus is admirable

You can see he's slowing up nowadays but the experience and talent he has still makes him our best player , by the length of Windmillhill Street too

Very fortunate to have him   :thumsup2

Seriously??? That's a fucking joke - to ban what is at the end of the day amateur footage that gets a few thousand hits on youtube is farcical. The official youtube SPFL youtube channel stopped showing a decent length of highlights this season as well, so we are now at the mercy of the editors on BBC Sportscene for a by-the-numbers 5 min package and Sky, who frankly don't give a f**k. It's almost as if they are trying to make things shite.

It's fairly laughable in that respect but having had a quick look the clubs individual channels are getting far more views than the SPFL's monetised 'official' channel. For example after the Gunning incident ICT's YT has (at this point) 52k views the SPFL clip of the same game has 3k. No one's going to get rich off of YouTube views but I'd imagine the SPFL's noses will be put out of joint the more they're realising that traffic is being directed away from their option which obviously has their sponsors branding etc.

Generally MFC are getting more than double the views of the 'official' channel, largely because they're better highlights and far more comprehensive, they're also not paywalled and easily accessible to fans who'd clearly rather watch 7-10 mins than the pish 1min 30secs on the SPFL YT.

The whole 'enforcement' of this is just bureaucratic nonsense.

Flow did point out that they'd try and see if there was a workaround. It seems that according to the 'rules' they can still provide the same content but only if it's behind a paywall. Which is the issue I believe.

I don't know what sort of hosting etc Thistle use for their TAG thing. It seems that's fine but putting the content up publicly on YT isn't.

Absolute pish either way.
