Clayhole Blue
Surprise Surprise ! Worst kept secret in D and G. Saints not going to LL. To use the "we dont have our Licence yet" is pathetic. They have spouted of all season they would be ready for Club licencing should they win league and would go to the LL as promoted Champions. They have deliberately held back on the Licence so they DONT have to get promoted. Cant think that the SOSL, the LL and the SFA can be happy with this outcome.Do they still get to play in the Scottish Cup with its payments ? Bit underhand to say the least. Sad state of affairs. Threave desperate to come down and Saints desperate not to go up ! Presume they will still be in Scottish Cup as SOS champions. But what are they going to do once they get their licence next season - assuming they don't just keep delaying it indefinitely? Make sure they don't win the league? calmac25
Article about their application, seems that the council have scuppered their attempt to be licenced and the chairman alluding that they y would've been happy to be promoted. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/st-cuthbert-wanderers-explains-didnt-8099105#JfHD02JETuWGRK6X.

Thought it was the fact that only a few players, one or two, were wanting to play in the LL and basically a whole new squad would need to be sourced/bought (but they dont buy or pay players remember). Raises a few points , were the Council, who paid for half the pitch, aware they have held thing up so club could not get promotion, why is Galloway news/Daily Record accepting quotes from a third party, a manager of another team, and putting this in print. If the Council is at fault, what are they doing, if anything, to put matters right. What is their view on what was in paper ? Bottom line here is Saints won the league, fair and square. Why should any team be forced in to a League they do not want to be in as doing so would cause long term financial problems in the future. SFA need to look at this and their Pyramis System. SFA need to look at this and their Pyramis System.Because they play in a league thats part of the pyramid system thats why!!! This is beginning to look like the stitch up thats been long talked about....,a delay in getting the license preventing them from entering the LL but a priority placed on getting it soon due to SFA membership/later round Scottish Cup involvement!!! Dear oh dear Saints your beginning to look like diddy's!!
Lord Summerisle
Can't see where it says 'it's the councils fault'? Could it not just be that the reasons for not having a license are legit? Anyway, East Stirling get 60 k for relegation while any team that gets promoted gets nowt.......only in Scotland would consistent failure be rewarded like that and success not. lowenan
Good news that they are continuing their work towards a license. Expect them to go for promotion next season if they win the SOS.

Dear oh dear Saints your beginning to look like diddy's!! I would assume that Saints will overcome their Council " Problems" just in time to meet the deadline for this years Scottish Cup, with its associated payments. The Council, as would the SFA Licensing Committee, would make more than one visit to the Ground detailing what would be required to meet their standards. How on earth can Saints now say they couldnt meet the deadline ? Common knowledge they held back the required paperwork and site works to avoid the LL. As the saying goes "I smell shite !" Bladnoch Bandit
?? Edinburgh City will receive more over the next 2 years than East Stirlingshire. That kind of scuppers their argument about success not being rewarded then. The fact is Saints have miss-lead the SFA, the SOS League, The Council, The licensing Committee, the LL, the press and most importantly their fans. left half
Bladnoch Bandit, would you please provide evidence of anyone being mis led ? Your rants on here are becoming more and more irrational and you seem to be becoming obsessed with what is essentially Saints business. Can you please advise where the logic is in forcing a club into promotion where it is clear that it is unsustainable from a playing and financial basis ? I for one would not like to be the Chairman or Committee member who takes the club down a road to oblivion. People who take on such roles are merely passing custodians who ensure that the future of the club is in good shape for following generations . Hobbits pal
Lots of rumors circulating here in Dumfries about Saints manager standing down/getting sacked soon . Apparently due to lack of players willing to sign from last years championship winning team, players leaving and not being replaced. Anyone heard anything ? qwerty12345
Rumors are rumors. Saints have a squad of players signed with the core of the championship winning team signed up and new additions coming in.

Saints have a squad of players signed with the core of the championship winning team signed up and new additions coming in. You are correct, there will always be rumors. The point I was making was that according to a player who was part of last years team, not all the players have re-signed, far from it. Some have left, others still have not signed and some are talking to other clubs. Manager was quoted in paper saying nearly all of the team had re-signed. That will be proven to be wrong over the coming weeks. Wont be the first time he has put rubbish in paper saying he had players signed when he hadnt. Reason both pre-season games were called off was because they couldn't field a team. Seem to be imploding.Time will tell if rumors are correct. Robert James
Yes playing squad weaker, but the good news is that St Cuthbert Wanderers have at last been granted an SFA Entry Licence (16 August 2016). Eligible for Lowland League promotion, but do they want it ? Newton Stewart's application was rejected, but will be reconsidered in October 2016.
