villager
Yet another team of sore losers departed Guys Meadow Stadium on Saturday 16th April without coming to the bar / clubhouse for the after match hospitality. Not mentioning any team names, but they were off like a Shott!! Visiting teams are ALWAYS invited to join us for a bite to eat after the match. So, ignorance no excuse. I am the bar manager at Hat-trix (CUFC), and me and my team work extremely hard every match day to ensure all CUFC and visiting supporters are looked after; it is SO demoralising when the losing visitors don't even bother to show face, and half the food we COOK - not just sandwiches - has to go in the bin. We do our best to put on a decent spread for the boys at the end of a hard match; it would only be good manners to for the visitors to put in an appearance to show their appreciation, no matter what the full time score. Maybe manners are a thing of the past??? CAROLINE Bar Manager Hat-trix Bar and Soccer Complex

Hertha/BJFC1938
Always stay behind win lose or draw. Bad bad manners not to show up when clubs put a spread on for you. If our players & management never turned up then our president would be raging .

grumswall
Maybe you should start making sandwiches only. Will save you alot of effort. I'm sure your a dab hand at making a sandwich aswell. It is a poor show teams not turning up after a game though. No excuse for it. You travel x amount of miles for a game so should at least stick around for a "juice"

There's a few in our league wouldn't come back, some of them very local to Edinburgh. I used to say that would be treated as a deadly insult in the Juniors which is one of the few things I admire about the Juniors set up. I've even seen refs come back for a piece or soup in Junior clubs which is a good thing.
Euzi
Amateur teams get fined if they do that. Time the Juniors brought that in too.

I think that if a team is in a rush to get back then they should have a notice period to advise the home club in, say 3 days before the game. If they then don't turn up they should be fined to cover costs.

It has happened to us at Kilsyth a few times, including the offenders mentioned in the original post.
villager
"cook" is when we go to the trouble of MAKING a variety of pasta ie macaroni cheese, pasta bakes, chilli (I make them myself usually the night before, and my team put it all together on the day) homemade soup and hot rolls etc. Very very rarely is there something on the menu that is not hot. The refs always come up to us for something, and I agree, teams should be fined unless prior notice is given that they may have to make an early departure. sponsorsladdie
Fined for not eating pieces? It's still a cost to the club to make them and if, as suggested above, preparing hot food then why not? Clubs are struggling enough as it is with out having to waste cash on food that's not being consumed
Larky55
There are 2 sides to every story. If Shotts failed to accept your hospitality, there may be another reason other than losing the game.

A wee text or email to ask of the team will be hanging about after the game would save a lot of hassle and hurt feelings.

If there had been another reason why did they not let Cumbernauld know right after the game they weren't staying before they sneaked out the door. Very poor behaviour from Shotts on this occasion.
