What happens if a club can't fulfill a fixture club

Pardon my ignorance but If it's a 3-0 loss recorded against them does that not make it a 3-0 win recorded to the team they were due to play ?

No mention of that in the rule that one of your guys posted. Have a read of it.

Fixture would still be outstanding and need to be played. That way Forth could get 6 points out of one game. Doubt very much if Lanark or Cambuslang would be happy with that.

The rule makes no mention of an award of the points and goals to Forth. Only that Royal Albert (rock bottom of the region, with 9 points) would be deducted 3 points and a 3-0 loss recorded against them.

This is pretty routine practice in football for a "scratched" league fixture.

Seem to remember a decade ago when the Hamilton Accies players threatened to go on strike, the position reaffirmed that in the event of a walkover, the game would be declared a 3-0 victory to the side that turned up for the sake of the League tables, they get the points and the phantom goals, the other side meanwhile is deducted 3 points in punishment & is fined proportionally to their offence.

In 1996, there was the Estonia vs Scotland fiasco, & FIFA's match representative that day, Jean-Marie Gantenbein of Luxembourg stated that the rules were pretty clear in the event of one side failing to turn up, then it is declared a 3-0 victory for the other unless they could prove they were unable to fulfil the fixture due to circumstances beyond their control (this was overruled to suit Scotland's qualification rivals Sweden, but that's another tale).

If teams could forfeit matches 3-0 then as soon as they'd only "meaningless mid-table" games left they could just pack-up.

That would also effect teams still involved in title races/etc., some of whom had played such teams earlier and not won (or not by 3 goals).

Hence the club unable to field is usually punished, but the match rescheduled.

What part of my post do YOU not understand? I said the fixture was withdrawn. Therefore there is no fixture to fulfil. What you should be asking is why Royal Albert can't field a team and why did the Regional Secretary withdraw the fixture.

But back to the original question. What do Forth hope to gain?

The rule makes no mention of an award of the points and goals to Forth. Only that Royal Albert (rock bottom of the region, with 9 points) would be deducted 3 points and a 3-0 loss recorded against them.

As they have been significantly inconvenienced Forth are entitled to full explanation of events here.

Questions like :

(1) When did RA representative contact league sec to seek postponement of midweek game ? The timing - straight after Sat game - seems a bit unusual.

(2) What was the nature of the evidence provided by RA that led to the conclusion by the league sec that immediate postponement and withdrawal of the fixture was the only option ? The scheduled match was still four days away.

That said it is more important for Forth not to get too distracted and to remain focussed on continuing their recent good run of form. Still a lot of work to be done. Promotion would be great but winning the league would be even better (especially if it's the league sec who presents the trophy !)

Accies were docked 15 points for failing to fulfill the fixture which I would suggest was not in proportion to the offence.

Hamilton were deducted 15pts and the game was replayed (they won it 1-0).

However, it had unusual circumstances... Firstly, failing to fulfil is unheard of in SPFL and was seen as heinous - some would have demoted them. Secondly, it was due to their players striking over unpaid wages. Thirdly, they were away to Stenny who therefore lost money.

It was understood the 15pts was to put them in relegation trouble - but with a chance of surviving.

They were relegated, 4pts adrift.

I for one, probably like everybody else am tired of this now.

Forth will just have to get on with it and hopefully Royal Albert can play out their fixtures.

Going to be interesting if you have players out injured in the future if all you need to do is phone up and cancel a fixture till it's more suitable.

It's embarrassing for so called semi pro football, that teams can't fulfil there fixtures,, it's not a new thing,,it's happened every year for last 10 years or more,,,ano it sounds harsh, but if u can't get a team, u should,be put out league,,,my opinion, doesn't matter who it is,,,unless u have medical certification stating , your squad is missing them all,,,, for years the ants have struggled with shortage of players, n lost games, if we had all players fit should have won,,, so don't see the difference,, also could cost the other team promotion or relegation,,,cos obviously gonna be stronger once they play,,
