Doncaster and the other morons should have pushed a positive agenda when Rangers died. They should have made it their priority to promote Scottish football and talk up the other teams in the top flight having a chance to challenge one team instead of usually having to do it against two. They should have talked up the benefit of the bigot supporters giving the lower league teams a slight cash boost with attendances etc. They should have tried everything they could to squeeze money out of the domestic cups. They should have at least got some sort of league sponsor in place. Least of all, they should have done something to combat all the negative reporting from the media.

Instead we were very pubically told in no uncertain terms that the game and our clubs would die. They fucked up the tv deal and couldn't get a sponsor due to all the negativity they were constantly spouting. Anyone and everyone was allowed to peddle negativity and lies without question.

It's an absolute scandal that Doncaster etc are still in a job.

I have just agreed with and liked one of Stans posts.

Think I need a lie down now

The more mental than Norman award will be a hard fought contest this season, so many mentalists but there can only be one winner.

It's an excellent post Bennett.

What, specifically, would you take issue with?

Wanting Neil and others to lie.

They did "talk up" Rangers in the lower leagues spreading the dosh about.

They tried everything they could to squeeze more money out of the various comps, not an easy job.

Maybe stand free should've been asked to find a sponsor.

No negative reporting, Pravda lives..

The TV deal was fcuked due to the old firm clause.

That's enough for now.

Going to be some laugh if there's mass riots that "bring shame to the Scottish game" either at the OF this season or next. Scottish football obviously would only benefit from that...

Can you imagine how Rangers fans are going to react to weekly choruses of YNRA?  It'll be bad enough if it's sung by the home fans when Rangers are away but, if it's sung at Ibrox, especially if they're losing, there will be riots.  Armageddon, even.

Neil and others did lie, about the damage a Rangersless top flight would do.

I missed this "talking up". It must have been quiet.

How did they attempt to squeeze more money out? It would have had to be good to counter the negativity projected initially.

Not finding a sponsor was clearly Doncaster's failure.

It certainly wasn't Doncaster's job to provide the negative headlines.

What's the OF clause and how was it got round with little damage?

Doncaster and Regan suffered a total failure of imagination that saw our game as only possibly being about two clubs. It was an absolute betrayal.

Im going to bite here

Whats this 'Old Firm Clause' in the TV deal you are alluding to?

"It was more than a decade ago that a clause was first built into the then-SPL's live broadcast contracts ensuring four Old Firm games per season were available to be covered.

"Therefore, when Rangers ceased to be a member of the SPL, the broadcasters had the right to terminate the contracts immediately"

You already KNEW this of course.

Can you provide the actual wording rather than your precis?
