Happy Chappy
I think you will find we always get the season finished on time lol most because we go out the cups early but as other people say we understand there is a problem with our drainage which our committee who are mostly retired have been trying very hard to rectify and each year it gets better so to these people we say thank you and to people like yourself we just put up with as an itch that just keeps coming back real junior people know how hard it is to look after a park

Loughal
I'm not listening to another word about summer football. The season would never get finished. It's a great day out there and the volume of rain has been no worse than anything you'd expect for the time of year. The bottom line is that parks are fucked and not looked after and referees much quicker to put a game off. If clubs can't or won't invest in their facilities then summer football will end in a complete farce. Elsewhere report claims that bar plastic pitch clubs, the rest have missed 12 to 18 fixtures since the start of in August. How many times has a fixture been arranged and a weather victim against the same club. One case in Ayrshire took five Saturdays before it was played 3 months after first date. Any team can beat that? sponsorsladdie
What about March April May etc? When would the season start with some clubs ? Camelon would need to play all teams on the same day in games lasting about 10 mins a half on what ever Saturday falls after a spell on 14 consecutive dry days
HTG
Anyone who argues against summer football because it rains in August needs their head looked at. No they're not. The key is investment in decent drainage. It should be part of the criteria for playing at this level.
Happy Chappy
That's all very well for a team who has the finance that Linlithgow have (not knocking a well run club ) but I'm sure every junior club would love to have perfect drainage perfect grass perfect ground as for it being a requirement for this level I'm afraid we would not have very many junior clubs if that was the case as I have said already most grounds are looked after by volunteers and to them a very big thank you as without them junior football would not survive

We have clubs who have been unable to invest in infrastructure over generations and referees who no longer let games go ahead if the pitch is wet far less snow or frost bound. It is a fact that the likes of Camelon, Carnoustie, Rutherglen or Hurlford who struggle to play in April would be any better off in November. There are many others in this position. The top leagues really need to strengthen the standards that must be applied before a club competes in them given that these are the teams who can expect to be playing most games. And the junior game needs to really examine where its lines with amateur at the bottom end and professional at the top end start to blur and then something can be done at the right level for the right clubs. 160+ teams under this single umbrella just doesn't work in the way it used to. And why should it - the rest of the football landscape has changed and continues to do so.
