I don't really know what to think about it, Gerald Foos is creepy, sad but the extracts from his 'journal' are kind of compelling, in a diary of a madman style. If, and it seems a big if, he actually witnessed murder, assault, rape, robbery, drug dealing etc and did nothing about it then the guy's even more of a monster than he appears. He talks about how what he's doing shouldn't be a crime because he carries out the spying on his own property and no one is ever exposed or hurt, but it later talks about how he followed a woman home after watching her get pumped off some guy for 150 dollars. To think this guy can't be the only motel owner doing this is also terrifyingly intriguing. Anyone fancy branching out into the motel business? As well written as it is, this guy must have fudged the details in some instances here. Also how did he find not one, but two people that didn't run for the hills when they found out about this? He saw the lassie's chest moving after being choked to death aye? My freckly arse. By his logic, the FBI are only doing something wrong when they prosecute someone. The act of spying on people doesn't hurt them as they are unaware of the spy is his justification.
