Lurkst Posted September 21, 2021 Share Posted September 21, 2021 After sitting in the South Stand tonight it was clear that the pitch could be moved several yards towards that stand as part of any redesign to offer more development room around the North Stand in particular. I'd propose extending the top tier of the South Stand right around the back of the East and West stands, while bringing the lower tiers towards the pitch. Similar to what was done in Stuttgart. The seats miles away from the pitch, the terrible gradient that also affects the acoustics too? Surely the best answer is to knock it down and start again - to create a magnificent national stadium. Maybe naming rights could help reduce the costs to the SFA, only an idea. It's the same old terracing in the east and west stands from back in the day when seats were bolted on to comply with the legislation on the cheap, wasn't suitable then and most definitely not suitable now. The only option is knock it down start again with behind the goals as a minimum. With the exception of the south stand Hampden has to be one of the poorest stadiums used for major international matches in Europe now. Where does the money come from? Well how has every other stadium been developed throughout the world over the years? The SFA has hidden behind the mantra of we can't invest as it's not ours for over 100 years...so now what's the plan Mr SFA blazer man? I was thinking of 'foreign' countries. If I had thought it through, after dashing off my trite comment, I would have realised that neither Wales nor England are sovereign countries. Went to see Springsteen at Hampden a few years back, the gig was sensational, as it's Springsteen, but the sound wasn't brilliant, due to the fact that it wasn't built up, like Murrayfield is. Surely "someone" out there can follow this up? I wonder how many experts on here have actually been to major grounds outside Scotland. People abroad just accept that they won't be back in their equivalent of Inverwalloper 20 minutes after the game. Try to get anywhere from Murrayfield or even Ibrox or Parkhead after a full house. 70,000 head to Haymarket Station at 10pm after a midweek game. 65,00 are still there the next morning.
