garrellburn
Clydebank WERE a big club, and may well be again when they eventually get a new ground sorted out. Just as Rob Roy, Petershill, Ashfield, Benburb, Shotts and many others were, clubs with a great history and the POTENTIAL to be once more. It is the up and coming progressive clubs like Kelty though who are showing the way. The juniors have lost out to the Lowland league though, it is them who are getting the sponsorship, the publicity, if not the support, at the moment. WE have to fight back and promote our grade more, a change of name is not the answer, everyone in Scotland knows what we are about.

shuggie123
Back in the day Tranent would have been considered a big club in the east. There is potential there for them to be a big club again. Played against Whitburn in front of a crowd today of about 4-500. There hasn't been much success for the last 20 years but things are starting to look up. Were there no Whitburn supporters there? shuggie123
Thanks, mate. Probably any of those would put a club in with an argument. In many ways I guess Clydebank are the biggest of all if you consider them a continuation of the senior league club. Looks like we have a Clydebank supporter fishing for compliments. LongTimeLurker
...a change of name is not the answer, everyone in Scotland knows what we are about. Not so sure about that. When you get away from the traditional heartlands in the old coalfields there are plenty of people who don't grasp that junior teams don't field a youth side every Saturday. Whether that matters that much is another question though. Think there is room for compromise on this. Keep the SJFA and Junior Cup names as is for the traditionalists and to keep the history intact, but find another branding for the grade in general like regional football given there are east, west and north regions involved. Beyond that I'd find ways to engage with rather than ignore the so called pyramid so that more clubs can enter the main Scottish cup, because cup runs like those that the biggest junior clubs like Irvine Meadow, Bo'ness United, Auchinleck Talbot and Linlithgow Rose have had in recent years (along with the exploits of smaller clubs like Sunnybank) are the best possible free advertisment that the more local alternative to the SPFL is worth a look. superbigal
Some more to help your research project The only problem both clubs have is the amount of auld fossils turning up expecting to see Scottish adults playing and expressing suprise when they find kids on show. Wrekin Juniors is one of the largest junior football clubs in Telford, Shropshire, UK. The club promotes Junior Football in Telford for boys and girls aged from 6 to 16 years so they can train, grow and develop as footballers, but more importantly, as confident young people. Melton Foxes are the largest Junior Football Club in Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas.
Talbot Bing
Hello to junior fans. A couple of things, this isn't an attempt to start a barny and 'biggest' is really subjective. But I was looking to see who you as junior fans regard as the biggest clubs at the level? I only have a brief knowledge of Junior game and know obviously the Linlithgow Rose and Auchinleck Talbot of the world are up there but who would you have out with them in the east and West as the biggest clubs? Just looking to further my knowledge. Cheers! At the opposite end I would say that Cumnock Juniors are one of the wee clubs of the juniors game. They are just happy to be able to play a match each week. Obviously overshadowed by their much bigger neighbours Auchinleck Talbot.
Deanburn Dave
It is the up and coming progressive clubs like Kelty though who are showing the way.. Progressive ???.....Kelty have a couple of local business men pumping loads of money into them at the moment. Risky strategy.
Black Dug
. Progressive ???.....Kelty have a couple of local business men pumping loads of money into them at the moment. Risky strategy. Depends on what terms the investment is made. Promising riches only to saddle the club with future repayments or long contracts is risky. Accepting investment on a sponsorship/altruistic basis is fine and should be welcomed.

Burnie_man
The traditional big clubs in the (old) East Region are Linlithgow Rose, Bo'ness United, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, Newtongrange Star and Whitburn Juniors. That's based on core support and regularity of wining trophies. The likes of Armadale Thistle, Tranent, Broxburn Athletic and Arniston Rangers are probably just below them. Of course success breeds success and with that comes the support. Tranents support has been great this year and folk will show up for the big games but it's keeping the crowds when things are not going to great that's the problem. Krfc 10
Krfc10 ... well done pal. You scored an early goal then defended very well for the entire game and rode your luck as well. Into the next round of the Euroscot Central League Cup. Congratulations. I'm pleased that you seem delighted. At the same time you can say we were rubbish and aren't going up. Which is also fine. We're 9 points and 16 goals better off in the league than you ... that suits me grandly to be honest. Whether we go up or not I can safely say that we've consolidated after a horrendous year last year and will - probably - avoid the fate of many an unfortunate who finds themselves relegated again and tumbles down the leagues. Are we a big club ? Nope. We do not yet have a permanent ground ... we haven't won any of the major trophies ( in this incarnation ) despite coming close to both the cup and doing well in league. We have a good fanbase for this grade. Our away support has kept more treasurers happier than not which is nice. Importantly we've never been in a position where players were not paid what they were owed. Altho it's a struggle at times - esp during the winter - we've managed to pay our dues. That's without a sugar daddy, a car park to sell , a social club etc. We've come from nothing with no ground, team etc and competed at the top end of the junior game within a few seasons without a permanent home. I think we've done not too bad. Not perfect but we're well run and work hard and try to give visiting clubs a nice welcome with what we have at our disposal. If things turn out as planned then we'll crack on and progress. If not then if it all had to end tomorrow then I'm quite proud of what we've managed. Are we the biggest club in the Juniors ? Naw. Talbot and Lithgae are the 2 best run and deserve that accolade. Great folk involved as well ... ones that work hard to ensure they'll be around in 20 years and don't rest on their laurels. Decent stadiums, good facilities and a credit to themselves. So there's my considered answer to the op. Krfc10 ... enjoy the rest of your weekend and the next round pal. not once did I say I didn't think you would go up, and what is wrong with enjoying a victory over a team that is considered to be one of the best in our league, it was a cup tie, would much have preferred if it was a league game and got the points, but yes it was the central league cup and looking at your record over the last few years you definitely take it serious, but your out now so I suppose it is a diddy cup now going by your sarcasm at the start of your post and I am enjoying my weekend, thanks for the good wishes

Shanner
The thread is about big clubs. None are bigger than Peasy, but that is only my opinion. I can't think of a single area where they could be called the biggest club. Certainly in the top 20 or so however.
