Reinstatement raises head AGAIN.

Bit confused about reinstatement. Heard that senior clubs can walk in and sign a junior without giving them compensation. They do not have to pay the SFA any fee. Then if the player goes back junior they can demand a fee from the junior club. Is this in any way true.

Sounds like 'flat earth rubbish' from 'Junior men'.

Being more constructive, all players in non-recreational football can be prevented by their clubs from moving within the season, whether the player is Professional, Non-Contract Pro or Amateur, provided they're playing regularly. There is/was a rule that allowed someone who had not played for 28 days to have their registration annulled but it involves reclaiming amateur status.

In terms of SPFL clubs coming in for a player, the club has to be careful. Clubs that block player moves to a higher level will get a reputation. Provided the bigger club is fair, I guess most teams would sanction the move - if it suited the manager. There was an odd incident when Sean Winter left Arthurlie for Stranraer at the end of his contract. He reinstated himself Amateur and therefore Stranraer owed no fee. Not all players can or will do this though.

If it was the end of his contract surely any messing about with amatuer status was unnecessary?

He was below 23 so compo was due - and it went on for a few seasons as Stranraer kept putting it off (afaik). He certainly signed for a second season as an amatuer with them.

As for as I'm aware a proposal will need to be lodged and to allow it to discussed at a.g.m income lost would probably need to raised by putting up annual fees or disciplinary. Charges increased

Any proposed changes to rules have to be submitted in writing before 30th April for discussion at the AGM.

The SJFA AGM is 3rd Saturday in June, which this year falls on the 18th.
