But the point is ...

Why have the excellent venues ..

With the opportunity to promote the amateur game, to spoil it by making it a midweek KO thus making it difficult for many of their potential support that day from making a spectacle of the occasion?

Both sides have very decent following

No hes not there, seemingly they werent allowed to sign him the sfa stopped it. I see possil hav 3 players suspended coming up timed quite nicely by the league, wait till the cups are over and youll see a pile of colville players up for suspension. Happened for years or do colville have a really good discipline record?

think your comment is well out of order r u suggesting that Jim Roberts is favouring colville by hiding suspensions . I think you want to take a good hard look at yourself and get over that Colville obsession u have

Venues and dares would be set early in the season!! Deal with it move on stop going on about it and enjoy the semi!! A fucking debate about venues!! Embarrassing

Even if that were the case..and you'll no doubt be able to provide some proof of that statement... nothing's set in stone when it comes to these fixtures* and when Oban and Leven were drawn together it would surely have been apparent to the folk at the SAFA that the venue and date selected would present some difficulties for everyone associated with these clubs and would hardly add to the 'enjoyment', that you mention,of the occasion.

* Different competition, and different body involved, but the SFA certainly didn't encounter any insurmountable problems when they rearranged the EK/Celtic tie after it was found that the original venue and date didn't suit the agenda of the troops at NDP.

Cbrown4,pollok prince and Amofan1 - do you guys honestly believe that a league would not give consideration to hold back suspensions when it comes to the Scottish/ West cup semi's or finals if so you have been listening to to much of the spin that comes from the top table.

If a league receives a player final booking that means that a suspension to be issued within 2 weeks of that notification and the discipline secretary is made aware of the semi or final coming up he may consult with someone to hold back the date OR the only other way around it and perfectly legal is the match secretary will list a meaningless game b4 the BIG game to cover the suspension.

In a way I tend to agree whatever way its done as for a amateur player to miss the such a big game due to multiply bookings over a season would be a big disappointment.

Now the argument could be its morally wrong so to prevent the situation would be to adopt the profession route, is that you automatic miss the next game after a ordering off in the case of the multiply bookings that may be more awkward to administrate.

As for the venues the dates are picked once the semi finalist draw is made and the possibilities are considered not at the start of the season as someone suggested.

So after the draw was made the logistics guy consulted his map and his calendar and decided that NDP,on a Thursday night, was the ideal location for the Oban/Leven tie.   :1eye

Scary!!   :unsure2:

Even if that were the case..and you'll no doubt be able to provide some proof of that statement... nothing's set in stone when it comes to these fixtures* and when Oban and Leven were drawn together it would surely have been apparent to the folk at the SAFA that the venue and date selected would present some difficulties for everyone associated with these clubs and would hardly add to the 'enjoyment', that you mention,of the occasion.

So you're suggesting the SAFA should contact both clubs within a day or two of their quarter final wins to ensure they are happy with the date/venue of the semi final? Because I'm fairly certain that's exactly what happened!

IF the safa did make a call to both clubs regarding the date and venue im pretty sure it wouldnt have been to get their input of where and when the semi would take place , more likely they were told thats what was happening and that was it. If u think both clubs had any input into that decision then your deluded. Whats done is done now and best of luck to those involved hopefully a decent turnout for both games !

Yeah,I don't doubt that's exactly what happened! Still, you have to think that if they had initially been able to provide dates/venues that actually made some kind of sense, then the member clubs would have been spared the costs of the phone calls. ;)

Not sure about leven but no Oban players are complaining. Delighted to be in the semi.

Glad to hear it and I wish you well in your venture, bud. However,if highlighting what appears to most as the daftness of the arrangements re your fixture, helps in any way to ensure that other sides might be provided with dates/venues that are even slightly less nonsensical in the future, then it will have been worth the effort.   :)

Leven boys not complaining about it either. It is what is and both teams are just looking forward to it. As for Leven getting a phone call, yeah we did, only though to ask about kick off time though. The date and venue were announced before we played Linlithgow in quarters and I can guarantee that the Scottish didn't phone us or Oban and just disregarded Linlithgow and Shortlees prior to games being played.
