fan of the juniors
folk that used to be in charge fucked the club over, current committee now paying the price. If that is the case then these people can still be held to accountSome of them are still involved in the junior game
Shanner
Hopefully they can keep the hounds at bay but that sounds like an absolutely desperate gambit.
Meadowman86
This is an joke. A bad joke. After the last time when the golf company went bust Hibs got us out of jail, but there has been no lessons learned and the same over paying wages to players has happened for the last few years.......it's still happening and that's the galling bit.....lessons need to be learned but ADL here we come. Might be a good thing for the long term for the club. With the redevelopment of Quarry road there will be a few good players come out of Irvine in years to come. Let's hope we are still around to watch them
passbackdave
folk that used to be in charge fucked the club over, current committee now paying the price.why we're these people allowed 2 walk away when they've built up thousands a pounds of debt? Medda have been paying big bucks for years this was always gonnie happen. Mon the papers
ex-german exile
Shocking. I knew there were money problems, but these figures are of monumentally, unbelievable dimensions. Feel for the fans. Hope the club and one of the best grounds in junior football survive.

kenny131
The money they recieved from the big scottish run ending in a hibees away match, which would have brought in near 100k or more should have set up the club on a great footing for the preceding years. To be in that nick now is scandalous
WaffenThinMint
Hmmm, think it needs a snappier advertising title than that. OK, the bad stuff - Medda are up to their eyes in it & need to get matters sorted, fast. The positive side: they ARE acting on it (unlike certain professional clubs in the national league that left matters until it was too late), & have already come up with one rather good plan. A share issue is not merely a way of getting much needed funds raised, but accepting that those putting the money in ought to be getting a proportional say in the running of the club's affairs in the future - that's more likely to find favour with the banks and HMRC than the current set up which got them into this mess in the first place. Medda will bounce back from this, but it could take a long time if they're not prepared from the off to ensure cast iron measures are in place to make sure all outgoings are matched by guaranteed in-goings - not licks & promises from local small businessmen wanting to play Football Manager Reality Mod & expecting everyone else to pick up the pieces when they get bored with it or their pocket money runs out. fan of the juniors
Surely if they are in that much trouble plus they look like being relegated anyway the smart option would be to sell the big playersOut of contract at the end of the season so no one will buy them . Twaddle already put out the game until the summer because of it
fan of the juniors
Surely someone would nip in and try and sign mccann or maxwell just now rather than wait till the end of the season Not if Meadow were wanting silly money or unwilling to sell to their rivals which is what happened to Darroch who went to Port Glasgow who with no disrespect are not playing at the level he should be at

The best they could hope for is a bidding war to drive the price up.

It's only a plan if people buy into it and the mystery investors are sound. This must have been on the cards for a while when you read the interview with the boy who was the assistant to Rankin. clash city rocker
Shocked at how bad it is, and echo those wishing the club every success in turning things around. One gripe I have though is when Murdie was quoted in the papers saying that things were that bad at Meadow the club was in danger of going to the wall, also comments made on here attributed to the Meadow dressing room that led to one of the best posters here going mute the Meadow committee came out in forced decrying such suggestions as scare mongering hence trying to taint the names of those involved. I guess the full details wont be known for a while if ever but its seems a bit off from me. There are a lot of good people at the club some I call good friends and once again I wish them luck. Yip Keanan simply stated that Medda should not be bringing in Strachan when they don't have the money to pay players already at the club....and he was correct. Come back Deano. clash city rocker
Does this money include the debt for the social club. Was there not an ex committee member named as a guarantor for about 50k or something. Surely this debt is not on top of the social club money ffs They really have to put every player up for sale and try to recouped something for them or bring in ammies and release guys on big bucks. Sooner they start the better. The only thing that matters now is the club surviving.
Juniorloyal
Its crazy that its been allowed to get to such dire straits. The warning signs have been there for years and by the looks of it they have just been ignored. Hopefully they can get things sorted off the field and if that means playing youngsters and getting relegated to the Ayrshire District then so be it. The clubs existence is more important than success. I would be gutted if it was kilbirnie in the meddas position right now. If they go down the route of signing young local talent it may create more interest for the locals and in the long run boost the crowds because right now imo the size of meddas home support is a lot smaller than it should be for a town the size of irvine.
