Chester Desmond
I like Metal Mickey, who's telly show was produced and directed by Micky Dolenz. I therefore have interesting facts about three quarters of the Monkees: 1) see above 2) Mike Nesmith's mother invented tipp-ex 3) David Bowie had to change his name because of Davy Jones Does anyone have any similarly fascinating facts about Peter Tork? I'm sorry. Do you mean Peter Thorkelson? They shortened his name so it sounded more American. He and Mickey Dolenz were the ones that persuaded Jimi Hendrix to be the support act when they went on tour.

It was an urban myth that Charles Manson auditioned to be in The Monkees.

I reckon the roots of that one must come from ol' Charlie being pals with some of the Beach Boys, especially Dennis. He recorded a few tunes with them. Aye, 'Never Learn Not to Love' aka 'Cease to Exist' eh? Not a bad wee number either! Dennis' 'Pacific Ocean Blue' is probably my favourite Beach Boys solo record. His songwriting was very overlooked.
