"Premiership teams stuck in the Championship"

Recommended Posts

Ross County are a former non-league team from a small village, who have become a competitive top-flight team and reached 2 cup finals, twice beating the biggest club in the country on the way.

Is there anywhere apart from Scotland where they would be held up as indicative of all that is wrong with the sport?

Everywhere.

County are propped up at that level by the board. What is different about what they do from what Chelsea or Man City do, aside from the scale?

Not saying it's wrong, but don't get carried away on the "fairytale" element.

Let's not forget McGregor has had to bail County on more than one occasion as well in the last 10-15 years. He also bought several thousand tickets for the 2010 cup final and gave them away for free, ballooning the size of the County crowd that day to an obscene size. So ICT or Hamilton are a far better example of a well run club.

There's balloons and then there's balloons.

Not really, ICT are run on the same basis. It's best not to ask where Hamilton's money comes from.

ten when you include hearts ;)

Well, no. Hibs beat Aberdeen more comfortably.

I doubt Hibs or Rangers would be second or third in the top flight this season, but they'd both be in the top six. Similarly, Hearts and Aberdeen are a bit better than both, despite our two results against Hibs. Relegation was in the past and they simply have a bigger budget and better players now than the smaller clubs.

Remember some of the laughable shouts about our prospects when coming back up and in pre-season? We're going to utterly pish at least third place.

The Premiership should be an elite league for elite teams. You shouldn't be allowed in if you take less than 500 fans to every away game or there is a double decker bus parked near your pitch.

Like the SFA & SPFL most hacks believe in -

Premiership

Rangers/Celtic

Championship

Diddy shit. Who gives a f**k.

And worse then them both is 7-2 who complains about the attitude but can only acknowledge one of the other three leagues.

Yes . This just wouldn't be allowed to happen in the champions league .

If you're trying to work out which clubs the press really want to see in the Premiership you'd need a formula using the following variables.

- Mileage from Glasgow (A9 north of Perth being weighted treble).

- Strength of wifi signal for streaming an English game if it's a shite match.

- How well stocked is the beer fridge in the press room?

Attendances? They don't really count, except as a proxy for the things that really matter.

The same basis as who sorry?

Inverness and Ross County have similar ownership/financial arrangements. They wouldn't have got as far without the "investment" of the owners. As I said that's not wrong but it does allow them both to significantly over achieve.

Rangers don't have wifi as they're not in the business of paying bills
