Already the case in the USA.  Each state gets two senators whether it is California with nearly 40 million people or Wyoming with less than 600,000.

One of the reasons why there are two Dakotas.

The Americans aren't the only ones who do daft things, (although there are also two Carolinas).

It must have been one hell of a bevvy session the night Australia decided that what the world really needed was another South Wales.

I think you'll find it was an Englishman who decided the name.

Exactly. If it's only the incorrect ones being changed, what's the problem?
Allowing "Ministers" to decide whether they are correct,or incorrect is a can of worms awaiting to be opened.

Lovely big tin with 'fascism' on the label.

What did North Wales do wrong that they specifically wanted it named New South Wales?

Have you seen some of their place names? The Aussies would have no problem whatsoever with a settlement called New Buggerall!

Revealed: The UK Government Ignored Its Own Experts' Advice to Decriminalise Drugs

In 2016, for the first time, the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs explicitly recommended decriminalising drug possession and use.

"Many experts maintain that the government is more worried about appearing tough than saving the lives of people who use drugs"

This is shocking news. Say it ain't so.

This is not shocking or even New.

It's been obvious for years. The strange thing is that public opinion isn't anywhere near the Tory stance. f**k knows why they stick with the war on drugs pish.

Gotta have an ENEMY to fight. If you build an enemy, they will come.

They could pick a better enemy though. You'd think that the Tories would see the money making opportunities and get right behind the legalisation.

Maybe none of their donors are involved in the industry so it's not worth their time.

I suspect that “JUNKIES” are an easy enemy common to both the middle shires and “red wall” gammons. The Tories know that these folk think only the underclass live in heroin-infused slums and use drugs (not good, honest, hardworking taxpayers, ever). Demonising drug users is a simple way of looking tough on crime to an audience who would happily see their idea of filthy, lazy, feckless addicts flogged in workhouses.

Only the underclass take drugs right enough.

It's a well-known FACT that middle-class people can indulge in the occasional bit of smack at the weekends without it otherwise affecting their lives.
